Hubbard Mayor Says Ohio Edison Rate Increase Denied
Mayor Arthur Magee announced that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission denied Ohio Edison's wholesale rate increase. The delay from January to May 6, 1982 preserves savings for Hubbard and 21 municipalities, totaling over 6 million dollars, and avoids a 25 percent rise for city electric customers. Magee noted the five month pause buys time to counter justify claims and may extend to two years, with potential repayment of increases with interest if the ruling goes in Hubbard's favor.

Vandals cause $10,000 in damages to Reed School
Two juveniles broke into Reed Middle School two weeks ago causing extensive damage. The break in began at the west doors near the cafeteria and extended to the library where fires damaged books and equipment. Police report they entered after climbing a locked gate. charges expected include breaking and entering theft burglary arson and criminal damaging.
