Hubbard High School schedules and orientation announced

Hubbard High School principal Richard Buchenic announced the opening of school on Tuesday August 28. Student schedules may be picked up in the guidance office or in homerooms on opening day. Freshman orientation is scheduled for August 21 at 10 a.m. in the cafeteria. New student registration runs Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parents must provide birth certificates health records report cards and proof of residence. First period starts 7:45 a.m. dismissal at 2:30 p.m. Homeroom assignments listed by grade and room numbers.

Orientation program set for Trumbull JVS students

Champion Trumbull County Joint Vocational School announces an orientation at 6 30 p m on Wednesday August 22. New students meet instructors staff learn policies and programs. Entrance is off Route 45 north of Kent State University Trumbull Campus.

Township to propose 2.29 mill police levy on Nov ballot

Tubbard Township trustees approved a 2.05 mill tax levy to fund police operations starting 1990, aiming to raise about 146000 annually. They cited a shrinking budget from 472000 in 1989 to 319000 in 1990 plus a 14337 carryover, with a 140000 projected deficit in 1991.

City, board reach sale deal for land aiding drainage project

The city and the board of education reached final agreement at an Aug 6 special meeting to sell about two acres of board land for the Westview Parish drainage project for 1. City officials focused on who will maintain sections of the creek linked to the project and the board attorney pledged clarification. Board member Dutch Keenan pressed concerns over delays in the proceedings.

Gates to stadium will be locked

HUBBARD The Board of Education held a special meeting on Aug 6 to curb stadium vandalism. Despite a board member’s objections, the motion passed to lock stadium gates. Athletic Director Bates urged locking to deter vandalism while noting senior citizens use the facility before school starts.

Parish water flow worries spark town meeting

At a meeting residents including Rev. Thomas Murphy of St. Patrick Church questioned the increased flow into Mud Run Creek after the Westview Parish project. Murphy asked if extra water would end up in basements, prompting Sauline to schedule a town meeting for Aug. 9 to address concerns.

Walk-a-thon for Cystic Fibrosis Planned in Hubbard

A six mile walk to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is set for Sunday September 9 at 2 PM at the Hubbard Municipal Building. Registration dates are Saturday August 25 from 10 AM to noon and the event day from 1 PM in the building lobby. Participants may pick up sponsor sheets at the mayor’s office on weekdays or day of event. under 18 require parent signature. Prizes for walkers raising $35 or more.
