Westview-Parish project began to address flooding with a State Issue 2 grant, while Parkview Dr culvert waits on material. West Liberty St repaving costs 190000 under state control with an August 31 deadline. A new bridge, North Main St repaving planned for next year, and an electric substation costing about 600000 should start soon. Celebrezze promotes jobs in Mahoning Valley as key campaign plank
Ohio attorney general and gubernatorial candidate Anthony Celebrezze frames health care as the top statewide issue with education following, while stressing jobs in the Mahoning Valley. He outlines a 10 point plan for regional development, a new Office of the Governor, and a state funded cleanup fund for abandoned mills, citing the valley's skilled workforce and logistics advantage as growth drivers. Celebrezze seeks to unseat Republican George Voinovich in November while criticizing existing welfare-to-work gaps and proposing health care transition programs for workers.

Prominent Hubbard Coal Mines of the 19th Century
Hubbard evolved from farming to coal mining around 1850. Mines at Sharon Conglomerate fed local furnaces, with shafts 100 feet deep and two foot coal seams, deepest near 90 feet. Miners faced methane and coal dust, using mules and carbon lamps underground. A 1977 groundwater study by ODNR near Hubbard Bedford Road and Pothour Wheeler drilled test wells into flooded mines.
