Senate may confirm Elijah Coleman to ASU board
Reverend J F Cooley urged Arkansas Senate to confirm Elijah Coleman of Pine Bluff to the Arkansas State University Board of Trustees a Negro and head of the Arkansas Council on Human Relations. If Coleman is rejected, Lacy Kennedy another Negro funeral operator from East Arkansas towns Marianna Forrest City Wynne was mentioned as possible appointee. Coleman said a legislator offered him an Arkansas AM and N Board position if he resigned. He rejected the offer calling it a pattern of appointing black people to watch over black people.
