The large living sculpture honoring The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was reinstalled June 11 at Centennial Park for a third summer display. The piece uses thousands of live plants and rests in the city greenhouse in winter. Sited with a yellow brick road and the Herrick District Library Oz exhibit, the Holland Oz Project brings together Holland Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, the library, Holland in Bloom, and the city of Holland.

Native plants support wildlife in your yard
Native gardens sustain ecosystems by feeding insects that in turn feed birds and other animals. Plant diversity, year round bloom, and local species create a balanced habitat. Ideas include reducing lawn coverage, adding native seed beds, and mulching with leaves for insect winter habitat. Sarah Irvin, a CDC Network naturalist in Holland, notes a practical path to greener yards.
