Michigan Senate GOP unveils 15 billion bridge fix plan

Republicans in the Michigan Senate introduced Senate Bill 529 to fund repairs for more than 400 bridges in critical condition using 1.5 billion in federal coronavirus relief funds and 126 million more for rail road crossing safety. The MI Safe Drive plan leverages over 6.5 billion from the American Rescue Plan to address infrastructure.

Summer reading buses roll through Holland Zeeland area

Summer reading programs begin as kids finish the school year. The Zee Bus travels within Zeeland Public Schools from June 14 to August 13 except July 5–9, with weekly stops on Monday at Borculo Church Rustling Winds Logan Estates and The Bridge Youth Center. Tuesday sites include Dreath Grove and Meoville Ice Cream with 10 and 11 a.m. story times. Wednesday stops cover Bluff Lakes Savannah Lakes Ottoman Estates and Maple View. Thursday runs to New Groningen Elementary Imperial Estates and Hunter's Creek. Friday visits Lawrence Street Park 9 30 a.m. to noon with story times at 10 and 11 a.m.

Zeeland to close Maple Street section for Sligh site housing

Zeeland voters approved vacating about 300 feet of Maple Street adjacent to the Sligh Furniture Co. building to aid the GDP Properties redevelopment. The northern Maple segment becomes a cul de sac from Washington Avenue and traffic will end next spring pending permits and city approvals.
