Hillside supports 1000 foot flight curb amid legal clash
Township attorney Adele Braelow argues a police power ordinance restricting aircraft to 1000 feet above the highest point is valid, but questions whether federal regulation can override. Civil Aeronautics Administration rulings on takeoff and landing below 1000 feet raise constitutional and due process doubts. Cedarhurst case and Supreme Court would clarify authority, while Hillside plans to revive a shade tree commission and monitor property impacts of low flight.
