Three Die In Worst Route 29 Crash In 15 Years
A 29 year old woman Miss Blondean Taylor of Greensboro N C was instantly killed and two other passengers died later after a car left Route 29 struck a utility pole flipped in midair and landed 95 feet away near a railroad switch engine. Edward Mainer 30 of Newark died five hours after the crash and his brother Walter Mainer 27 died early Sunday. Mrs Evelyn Mainer and Miss Hettie Taylor were hospitalized with serious injuries while William Morgan was listed in good condition. Detective Charles Grant said excessive speed caused the curve 35 feet east of the North Broad street overpass.
