The Hillside Camera Club held its first annual dinner on June 22 to honor founder Joseph G. Polakoff with a plaque. Joseph Loeb won Print and slide of the year in Class A color with 1st place, followed by Stensler 3rd and Ralph Brodeen 3rd, while Class B color saw Siede man 1st, Helene Guernyard 2nd, and Dr. Aaron Weiner. Black and white prints led by Loeb 1st and Arnold Thomas 2nd, Agnes Thomas 3rd.
The Salvation Army holds its Ocean Grove weekend on July 6 and 7 with Saturday evening and Sunday services. The program includes a festival of music, youth meeting, beach gathering, and two worship services in the Ocean Grove auditorium. A music festival on July 6 features the Northern New Jersey Youth Band Chorus and soloists led by Bandmaster Alfred V Swenarton. The New Jersey Tercentenary March will be performed.

The First State Bank of Union hosted its annual picnic at Twin Brooks Country Club in Watchung on June 19 for officers, directors, and employees. Attendees enjoyed golf and outdoor activities, a buffet dinner, and dancing led by Seymour Simon and his Union band. Charles V. Carman presided with the committee hosting dance contests and plaques were awarded to Robert L. Welch and Dominick Crincoll for completing the Institute’s Public Relations course.
