Nevada Proving Ground witnessed the largest U S atomic detonation yet a 50 kiloton class device. The 4 15 a m blast lit the sky over Yucca Flat with a two minute fireball seen as far as San Francisco and Los Angeles. Debris fires followed while observers noted a towering cloud and light winds.
