In Chapel Hill on Tuesday, Carol Kummerfeld of the U S Commission on Civil Rights urged that progress for women and minorities in higher education remains minimal over three years, blaming systemic discrimination and the reliance on informal recruiting. She advocated affirmative action plans and integration of women’s and ethnic history into standard curricula to remove employment barriers and counter stereotypes.
