Mondale Eases Into VP Role on Campaign Trail
Mondale, eased into the vice presidential run, previews speeches on foreign policy while firing sharp attacks on Ford. He stresses jobs housing health care and education as Ford failures and assures supporters he will win if the president campaigns on those issues. He works with campaign staff to refine jokes and messages, praising Chicago Mayor Daley and planning a Washington inauguration trip funded by supporters. In Charlotte a local group sues after being denied a permit to solicit funds, claiming political bias over its controversial advocacy.
