Davidson County and towns clash over regional sewer plan
In Davidson County and Thomasville Lexington and High Point a stalemate over a regional sewer system centers on short term gains versus long term benefits. County and city engineers propose two main options one large centralized plant south of Lexington serving the area with pipelines to towns while towns push for individual plants in High Point Thomasville Lexington Midway and Welcome. County plan costs exceed 40 million while the towns plan runs about 30 million. County Manager Jim Phillips notes a compromise has been offered to serve rural communities such as Hasty Pilot Fairgrove and Linwood, but even then the plan may not reach remote areas for 20 years unless cities adopt the county vision. The county version would allow tapping into lines as areas grow and would over 20 years yield cleaner streams by serving more people.

Wild Horses Aren't Everything They're Cracked Up To Be
Editor Jenkin Lloyd Jones questions the Wild Horse and Burro Act of 1971 and the federal approach to managing wild horses in Nevada. He argues the program costs, trapping methods, adoption burdens, and cruelty concerns require public debate and compromise, warning that eventual mass shooting could occur if adoption fails. The piece critiques WHOA leadership and calls for cautious, informed policy.
