Long Distance Rates Ruled Reasonable by FCC Judge

Washington reports that FCC admin law judge Kraushaar ruled AT&T long distance rates reasonable relative to return. He rejected splitting Western Electric from AT&T and said the record supports AT&T as a quality common carrier serving a large population. The decision ends after 103 days of hearings from 1974 to 1975 with potential further commission review.

Eleven Die After Legion Convention In Philadelphia

Harrisburg AP Eleven attendees at a July 2024 state American Legion convention in Philadelphia have died from similar symptoms. Edward Hoak, state adjutant, cited 10 000 attendees and multiple hospitalizations across Pennsylvania. Health officials began investigations, seeking specimens to identify a possible etiologic agent. Names of the deceased span several towns including Lewisburg Williamsport Wilkes Barre and Pittsburgh area.

Americans, Vietnamese refugees in Bangkok report

About 20 Americans and Vietnamese with American passes are believed to remain in Vietnam after 49 Americans and dependents from Saigon arrived in Bangkok. Frederick Gulden, an architect from Chicago, says people are dying from disease and lack of care as new agricultural areas open.
