One Serving Meals Raise Prices in Small Cans
A New York market survey shows single serving cans from Soups for One to Chefs Plate cost far more per unit than standard sizes. Most 7.5 ounce cans run about 31 to 49 cents versus 34 to 49 cents for 15 ounce cans, with prepared meals and Spam styles showing steeper per-pound costs. The study notes higher flavorings and dilution affect pricing, while families may pay more per pound for single servings.
