Iowa Adopting Mileage Law to Protect Car Buyers
The Iowa Automobile Dealers Association backs a new mileage law effective July 1 requiring true odometer readings and penalties for tampering. The law aims to help buyers know what they are purchasing whether from individuals or dealers and to curb fraud from altered mileages in state and out of state transactions. It also notes past dealer practices of mileage statements and references a push for national legislation to ensure fair mileage records for all vehicles.
