Center High School FFA held its annual banquet with 125 attendees. Three Guthrie Center residents were named Honorary Chapter Farmers. recipients included Roger Tallman and two faculty members, plus David Lake and Tom Rosenberger. New officers installed: President Dennis Fogle Song, Vice President Doug Sheeder, Secretary Randy Harwood, Treasurer Rick Robson, Reporter Milton Sheeder, Sentinel Bob Mes Singer. Various awards given for star green hand, star chapter farmer, and leadership. Mike Willenberg received DeKalb Agricultural Achievement and Outstanding Senior awards.

Morgan resigns ambulance post amid service continuation
Bob Morgan who has headed Panora Ambulance service for the past 1% years announced his resignation citing economic reasons. The retired army veteran earned $330 monthly. Public subscriptions supported ambulance service during the fire incident. Panora firefighters will handle the service temporarily while new arrangements are set. The current status is indefinite despite a $4500 city budget for the service.

Mrs Hobson Rites Tuesday At Guthrie Center Church
Final rites for Ada Agnes Hobson will be Tuesday at 11 am from the Christian church in Guthrie Center with the Rev. Jerry Palmer in charge. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Survivors include three sons Lee and Keith of California, Jim of Mes, a daughter Mrs Grace Gilman of Des Moines, several grandchildren, and sisters Mrs Maude Devies Mrs Esther Christien and Mrs Ursula Chambers of Guthrie Center.

George A Meyer Rites Held in Guthrie County
Funeral services were held for George A Meyer 75 at Beidelman Funeral Home Des Moines. He was a farmer and long time Guthrie County resident hospitalized for an extended period. Interment followed at Union. Survivors include brother Arthur of Guthrie Center and two sisters Ela Chambers of Stuart and Sadie Fiscus of Jefferson.

Gas Truck Upsets in Iowa Bayard Crash Injures Two
Two people were hospitalized after a Wednesday crash on Highway 25 in Bayard when a car ran a stop sign. Ed Fairchild and Pam Steinblauer, both from Sac City, were passengers in Lois Werkmeister’s vehicle. Fairchild suffered severe facial cuts and was taken to a Des Moines hospital. Amy Miller Scranton faces charges for entering a through highway. Ted Wall of Guthrie Center escaped serious injury when a gasoline tank truck he drove overturned west of Guthrie Center on Highway 44. The truck’s brakes failed near a dead end, it rolled several times, and a small fuel leak did not ignite. Damage to the truck was about $2000. Earlier, Lester Hay of Panora drove a car off a county road two miles west of Panora. he was uninjured.
