Wind erosion trims soil in fall soybean fields near Kanawha
Angstrom of the Northen Iowa Experimental Farm reports wind erosion removed about 0.5 to 0.75 inch of soil from fall plowed soybean fields. Ballantyne of Iowa State University estimates 75 to 100+ tons per acre lost, far above the 5 ton permissible annual loss.
