Guthrie Center hosts Bar-B-Q Girls night as 18 to 21 year olds who are Guthrie County Beef Producers members and active in beef production may enter a county queen contest. Culbertson Bond Granted After Accident Case
Bagley man James Culbertson was released on $1000 bond after a week in county jail for leaving the scene of an accident that killed Mark Winters. The suspect was later arrested in Bagley when his car matched the vehicle at the scene and was bound over to the grand jury. he faced a driving while license under suspension charge with a 10 day jail sentence.

Commission Sets Speed Limit Through Bagley on 141
The Iowa Highway Commission has set new speed limits through Bagley on Highway 141 and the Town Council concurred. The 25 mph zone is eliminated and the 35 mph zones are raised to 45 mph. The changes take effect once signs are changed.

Youth Admits To Setting Friday Fire
A 14 year old Guthrie Center youth admitted to county law enforcement officials Saturday that he set fires in the basement of the United Methodist church Friday afternoon. Damage was minor, limited to smoke and a burned church flag, with a stove left on and a phone book used to start the blaze. Hazel Moore alerted authorities when she saw smoke. the youth, who was planning a camping trip, was to be sent to juvenile authorities.

Roads in for Work Roads in for Work
County engineer Bill Stone outlines ongoing and upcoming paving projects across Gutrie County including two completed phases. Eight miles of concrete paving south from 44 on the Adair cutoff road and a final two inches of blacktop from highway 25 east to Monteith push toward open roads with more salt treated base surfacing planned south of Jamaica and along routes to Adair Fansler and the Dallas county line. A new Panora Stuart resurfacing, a north end rebuild, and a replacement bridge south of Coon Rapids are also pending with costs estimated near 988 008.

Wool Vote Being Done By Mail

Freeman Receives 60 Days in Panora Altercation
Mike Freeman was sentenced to 60 days in county jail after a Monday hearing in SE Robinson's JP court. The sentences run concurrently after he was found guilty of assault and battery and malicious mischief from a Saturday Panora altercation. Freeman assaulted Weaver Madison, a partner in Panora’s Plumbing and Heating business, with property damage including a screen door.
