Fifteen women from St Marys parish and Rev Joseph Murphy attended the Regional Institute of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women at Elma on Monday September 18. The program aimed to refresh those in formation on the past Vatican Council with opening keynote by Rev Joseph P Herard ACCW spiritual moderator. Mrs Frank Funke of Greeley ACCW president moderated panels and workshops ran through the day with luncheon and exhibits including a Mission Rosary Display by Mrs Andrew Nixt Greene who also demonstrated rosary making. Hildebrand to Attend 46th Iowa 4-H Dairy Heifer Show
Steve Hildebrand and Kelly Phead from Floyd County will take part in the 46th Iowa 4-H dairy heifer show and production contest during Sept 22 to 24. About 390 registered dairy projects compete for over $6,000 in cash and merchandise prizes at the Saturday heifer show. The three days coincide with the Dairy Cattle Congress and feature state champion awards and presentations, including the state champion dairy club member and production contest winners.

The Butler County American Cancer Society chapter met at the REC building in Allison on Tuesday September 12 at 9 00 am. The crusade chairman announced a cancer drive total of 5743 72 with funds collected to date. Delegates to the state convention will include Mr and Mrs Dick Lursen Mrs Harry Miller and Ruth Lursen. Mrs Miller presented new by laws seeking a change. The next meeting is scheduled for December 12 at 9 00 am.
