Mrs Grace Barnhart reports Chaplain Major Donald Neely and his wife Elaine Neely formerly Elaine Barnhart are parents of a boy born Friday September 8 at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. The infant weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces. The family will reside in Manchester Iowa during his one year Vietnam tour. Neely will depart September 30.
Mrs F W Bochmann of Aredale and about 60 church decision makers will review Iowa Methodist and Evangelical United Brethren church structure from September 11 to 16. Dr Murray Leiffer of Evanston Illinois will conduct Des Moines interviews with key readers, aided by his wife Dorothy. The study aims to align budgets programs and staff. Mrs Bachmann head of the Iowa branch WW of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, will be interviewed September 15.
Three year old Barbara Krueger daughter of Mr and Mrs Merle Krueger underwent major surgery on Tuesday September 5 at University Hospital Iowa City. Her address is Room C 41 University Hospital Iowa City.

Members of the Quarterback Club will hold their first meeting of the year at the high school cafeteria next Tuesday evening, September 19, at 7 30. They should come dressed to help get the field ready for the first home game on Friday, September 22.

The gathering ends Friday after director elections and business.
G Miller was re elected to the Greene Community School board after a Monday election with 44 voters participating. He received 43 votes and one ballot was unmarked for a three year term covering Scott and Bennedette Townships. In the NIACC district the proposed tax levy increase for construction was defeated 4 891 no to 4 237 yes.
New resident couple Jerry and Mrs Eimers welcome a son born on Tuesday September 5 at Floyd County Veterans Memorial Hospital in Charles City. The baby weighs pounds and is named Wendell Joe. Wendell was welcomed home by five brothers Larry Dan David Mardy and Jeff.
Towa residents should expect many tractors and farm trailers on rural roads and primary highways over the next sixty days as farm produce moves to markets and storage. Public Safety Commissioner Jack M. Fulton urged alert driving since not all vehicles carry the slow moving emblem. He also noted Iowa law on farm to market trailers, with stricter enforcement for licensing and a special farm to market plate required on trailers used to transport farm produce to market.

The Greene Junior Chamber of Commerce earned a Jaycee Community Development Award and a Jaycee Chapter Management and Leadership Training Award from the United States Jaycees. The honors were presented by Bill Duttie, U S Jaycees president, and Bob Krane, Iowa Jaycees president.
Dr W B Stager 78 died Thursday Sept 7 at North Memorial Hospital Minneapolis after years of ill health. Born May 20 1889 in Greene he married Frances Davis July 15 1914. Marvin J. Rover aged 20 the son of Mr and Mrs Lester H Rover of Greene completed eight weeks of advanced infantry training on August 26 at Fort Lewis Washington He received instruction in small unit tactics and in firing M 1 rifle M 6 machine gun and a 3 5 rocket launcher

The state Conservation Commission in Spirit Lake moved the raccoon season opening from November 10 to October 28. The season runs noon October 28 to midnight February 28 with no bag limits and full state open to hunting. Trapping dates remain from noon November 10 to February 28.
Iowa safety officials report two Mitchell county deaths last week at an intersection where tall corn blocked sight lines east of Osage. Public Safety Commissioner Jack Fulton urges farmers to trim field tops and drivers to slow or halt, warning more crashes may follow this year.

Marvin Moser won the season championship trophy at Midway Downs Race Track between Nashua and Charles City on Saturday evening. The previous night he finished second in the season championship race at West Union.
Vandals broke into El-Bar Lanes between Sunday night and Monday morning cutting a wall hole at the rear. They stole money from vending machines, loose change, rolls of quarters, several steaks, and ransacked the office. The Floyd County Sheriff's Office investigates. A 1967 Ford from Klassi Motors was stolen and found abandoned near New Hampton, stripped of tires.
The State Conservation Commission urged bow and arrow hunters and landowners to submit applications promptly so licenses are processed before the bow and arrow season opens September 30. Free licenses are required by Iowa law for landowners or tenants hunting on their premises, available from county recorders, conservation officers, or the Des Moines office at E. 7th and Court.

A daily bag limit of four and possession limit of eight apply for green winged blue winged or cinnamon teal in any combination. Officials stress only permit holders may participate.
