Butler County names five member Board of Health

A five member Board of Health for Butler County was named by the board of supervisors on Monday September 11. New members are Dr. Wayne Martin Shell Rock term to December 31 1968 George Willis Aplington Wilbur Thomas D C Parkersburg term to December 31 1969 Clifford Burroughs Greene and Dr. Frank McKean Allison term to December 31 1970. The board was created under a law from the last session of the general assembly.

Dinner Dance at Round Grove Golf Club

A dinner dance will be held at the Round Grove Golf and Country Club on Tuesday evening September 26. Dinner is served at 7:00 p.m. and dancing and cards will follow. Daryl Barnett Completes Combat Engineer Training

Army Private Daryl G. Barnett, 19, son of Mrs. Iva J. Barnett of Greene, finished eight weeks of advanced combat engineer training on September 15 at Ft. Leonard Wood Missouri. He learned squad tactics weapons use and engineer reconnaissance plus road and bridge building camouflage and demolitions.

Shotgun Golf Tourney Sets Round Grove Club afield

A Sunday shotgun event at Round Grove Golf and Country Club produced a three team tie for first at four under par. Keith Dralle Steven Wunsch John Mead and George Piston of California won in a sudden death playoff with Greg Dralle Danny Weyand Jeff Dralle and Jim Knapp also part of the top score. Greg Dralle holed out on No 5 to aid the tie while George Sneed James Dralle Jr Carl Fraschi and Jim Schroeder finished third. William Nordmeyer had the longest drive and Herman Stubbe won the flag hole with fifty seven golfers in attendance.

Rockford Man Killed in Portland Train Crash

Lester Ray McRoberts, 36, of Rockford, died when his car hit the sixth car from the rear of a train in dense fog near Portland Mason City about 11:00 p.m. Monday. Survived by wife Debra and Janet, son Gary, parents Irving and Ruth McRoberts, and sister Harriet Higgins. Funeral services pending.

Frahm Named Butler County Extension Director

Gary S. Frahm of Garner is named County Extension Director in Butler County. A Cerro Gordo native and 1962 Iowa State graduate in Agricultural Business, he has managed 4H and youth programs as an Extension Associate in Hancock County and will begin duties October 16 with his wife Nancy and three children Deborah John and Lori.

Corn Price Support Loan Schedule Changes for 1967

Kenneth E. Hart, chair of the County ASCS, says the corn price support loan basis and premium discount schedule are revised for 1967. Loans use No 2 grade coin rather than No 3, increasing county loan rates by 7 cents over 1966 with a 5 cent rise in the national average to 1.05. Farm stored corn loans apply the new rate. shell corn coverage remains 85 percent, 90 percent for shell corn, with final settlement based on the premium discount schedule. Warehouse stored corn uses actual grade for loan value and CC plantation delivery settlement. Producers in the 1967 feed grain program should contact local ASCS offices for details.

Fractures Reported After School Playground Accidents

In Greene Community several children wear arm casts after injuries sustained during play. Jack Larson ten fractured both bones in his left arm on September 7 while on the school jungle gym. Troy Marshall nine fractured a bone in his right arm on September 8 on the jungle gym. Joan and Sandra Downing ages five and seven sustained fractures of their right arms while swinging at home.

Rites Held for Kathryn Brunner

Kathryn L. Brunner age 91 died Tuesday September 12 at Clark Nursing Home after two years as patient. She born September 27 1875 in Floyd County near Greene to Michael and Catherine Brunner as one of eleven children. A practical nurse and lifelong member of St Peter's Lutheran Church she is survived by brother Mike Brunner of Greene and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday at 2 pm at St Peter's Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Metzger. burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. Reid's Funeral Chapel handled arrangements.

TV Action Club Begins Sept 30th

Butler County 4 H TV Action Club starts on September 30 with Dick Arnold and five youths hosting a ten week series. The show airs on KWWL Channel 7 at 12 20 to 1 00 pm WMT Channel 2 at 1 00 1 50 pm and KGLO Channel 3 at 1 15 1 45 pm. Each episode visits a place or covers emergencies such as tornado flood fire and radiation.

Kyhl Heads Iowa Interstate Cooperation Commission

Senator Vernon Kyhl leads the Iowa Commission on Interstate Cooperation which organized and elected Kyhl as Commissioner Chairman.
