Lions Club Meeting Shares Fellowship and Beans Yield
The Marble Rock Lions met Thursday at the Lutheran Church with Women of the Church serving dinner. District Governor Ray Garrett of Eagle Grove and Allison Lions members attended. Beans on 20 acres southwest of town yielded 630 bushels. A prize draw awarded half the winnings to the Club Treasury, won by John Ludwig. Mrs Russell Smith hosted the Turner's Cafe Bridge Club in Rockford with prize winners named.

Amputated Finger After Elevator Incident
Robert Staudt climbed onto a wagon at the Farmers Elevator to view the beans. His ring caught as he jumped down, severely injuring a finger. Initial medical care proceeded with stitches, but by Wednesday the finger needed amputation, requiring an overnight hospital stay in Charles City.
