The junior high and freshman football teams closed their seasons with 4 0 records. On Oct 23 the freshman and sophomores beat St Ansgar 20 to 6, Dennis Ratcher, Doug Litterer, and Jerry Shultz scored. The next night the junior high beat Marble Rock 32 to 18, and the ninth graders beat Rudd Marble Rock 20 to 0 with Greene, Shultz, Eimers, and Johnson scoring.

Butler County 4-H Awards Night set for November 4

The annual Butler County 4-H Awards Night will be Saturday, November 4, at the Farm Bureau Auditorium in Allison starting at 8:00 p.m. Trophies will honor the outstanding 4-H boy and girl and the Chicago Award Trip for overall 4-H achievements. A Meritorious Service award will go to a 4-H reader, with county medal awards and outstanding clubs also announced. The event is planned and conducted by county 4-H officers.

Farmers May Divert Up To 50 Percent of Feed Grain Base

Secretary Orville L Freeman outlines the 1968 Feed Grain Program allowing farmers to divert up to half of their feed grain base acres to conservation uses. Butler County Reaches 55 Percent of Bond Quota

Russell J. Perry, Allison volunteer county savings bonds chairman, announced Butler County September sales of Series E and H bonds and Freedom Shares totaled 30,764, contributing to a nine monthly total of 428,665 and 55 percent of the 1967 quota. Iowa sales for September reached 6,727,823 with a nine month total of 76,327,193 at 63 percent of the 1967 goal.

Woman's Club Harvest Fair Opens at Albrecht Hatchery

Gabe Enrolled in NIACC Electronics Program

Donald Gabe, a freshman, is enrolled in the electronics technology program at North Iowa Area Community College. Earle Everett Rague 56 died suddenly of a heart attack at his Greene home on Tuesday October 24. He was born in 1910 in Greene, married Bertha Miller, and worked 19 years for Oliver Corporation in Charles City. Soil Conservation Awards Dinner At Allison November 14

The Nichara Williams of Allison and John A Johnson of Parkersburg will be honored at a 7:00 p.m. dinner in the R E C Building Allison on Tuesday November 14. The Williams farm and Johnson farm are regional winners in the Soil Conservation Achievement contest. Meeting of agricultural chemical dealers at Cedar Falls

A meeting of Butler County and surrounding area chemical dealers will be held at the Holiday Inn in Cedar Falls on November 7. Gary Frahm says the event covers 1967 insecticide and herbicide results and 1968 recommendations with speakers Harold Gunderson and E. P. Sylvester. Gunderson discusses corn insect control, Sylvester weed and disease control in corn and soybeans. About $10 million was spent on corn insecticides and a similar amount on weed control. Dinner at 6:30 p.m. tickets must be picked up at the Extension office by November 3.

Need Machines for Repair at NIACC

Farm implement dealers in the Greene area are urged to help provide machines for repair in the Agricultural and Light Industrial Equipment Technology laboratory at North Iowa Area Community College. Roger Holcomb, coordinator, says student work on such equipment serves both dealer and college. Since 1966, equipment set up or repaired has come from dealers who deliver machines and furnish parts, while students provide the labor under supervision. Enrollment is rising with 11 sophomores and 40 freshmen. the course runs two academic years with an eight week on the job period between them.

Visiting Rockford defeated Greene 20 to 9 to hand the Ramblers their first conference loss. Peoples Gas to Send Refund Checks in Iowa
