Iowa Sets State Income Tax Withholding Plans
The Iowa tax commission outlined three methods for state income tax withholding next year, including a percentage of federal tax, a state withholding table, or a manual/automatic data processing formula. Chairman Lynn Potter favored the printed table designed to align with the federal table for combined withholding. Gilmour challenged Hickenlooper on anti poverty program politics, while Marshall and Grundy counties rejected local anti poverty efforts. Iowa employment rose to a record 757,700 with unemployment down to 14,700. manufacturing still led insured unemployment and women formed 60 percent of insured unemployed across semi skilled and unskilled jobs.
