Jerry Elmers announced practice for 8 and 9 year olds on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. starting June 21. Bob Shultz in charge. Babe Ruth League 3:00 to 4:15 p.m. Little League 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. Games set for Mondays and Thursdays in Shell Rock Valley League. Tuesday local league, ages 8 through sixth grade, begins June 20 with Fathers coaching and Shultz and Elmers supervising.
Donald Bachman high school principal released the class ratings for 1960 61 with seniors led by Steve Rottler 1.00 and Carol Crosby 1.33 Donna Reed 1.60. Juniors include Paul Burroughs 1.00 Judy Hildebrand 1.40 and Larry Blum 1.47. Sophomores Phillip Pooley 1.03 Janet Fiddick 1.19 Daryl Fischer 1.40. Mr and Mrs Garth Butler returned Sunday from the wedding of their son John to Miss Gail Lynn Carter held at Calvary Baptist Church in Taylor Michigan. John Butler will be pastor of First Baptist Church in Williamsburg Ohio after June 16. Doris Butler of Eugene Oregon accompanied her parents and will return home by plane Wednesday.
Mr and Mrs Wilson Clark along with Sandra and Roger returned Sunday evening after a two week stay with Mrs Clark s brother in law and sister Mr and Mrs Melvin Hoff and family in Seattle and with his brother Mr and Mrs Rex Clark and family in Yakima Washington Mrs Hoff accompanied them back for a visit.
In 1958 the Conservation Commission issued a new edition of State-owned Fishing Access Areas. The booklet maps Iowa's highways and rivers with 200 access sites, showing locations and species guides for anglers statewide. It is available by mail from the State Conservation Commission in Des Moines.
Dr and Mrs Everett M Rogers of Columbus Ohio will leave June 22 by jet for London. They will acquire a small foreign car for transportation through England Belgium The Netherlands Germany Switzerland France and Italy. Dr Rogers will meet with research workers in each country. The material he will gather will be incorporated in a book he is writing. They will return August 1. Dr Rogers will be associate professor at the University of Ohio at Columbus during the coming school year. Mrs Rogers is the former Edna Needham daughter of Mr and Mrs B N Needham of Greene.
The first County wide judging workout of the summer for 4 H and FFA members is Saturday June 17 at 9 00 a m at the Wedeking farm two miles west of Clarks ville turn off on highway 3 and one mile north Classes include baby beeves market swine and breeding gifts with oral reasons for each class The event prepares participants for the County Fair and the judging team selection All interested 4 H and FFA members and parents are urged to attend.
Donald Deines son of Rev and Mrs J Deines underwent knee surgery at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo last Thursday.
Phe warcene Scout baseball teams fell 8 to 3 and 5 to 3 to Allison. Gary Johnson started game one, then Doug Willey and Rusty Stewart relieved. In game two Doug Bulfridge pitched all nine, two hits allowed, but wild. Next game Saturday July 2 at home against Allison.
The Woman's Club Playground will open on Monday June 19 at 1 30 p m in Perrin Park with Miss Jeanette Wirth as supervisor and Gerald Ei mers and Bob Shultz assisting. Week one helpers include Mrs Keith Drake Carol Crosby and Betty Wirth.
Miss Joyce Krall of Parkersburg was crowned Butler County Dairy Princess, to represent the county in the August All Iowa Fair dairy contest in Cedar Rapids. Runner up was Linda Greenfield of Ackley. A noon luncheon followed coronation, with a Shell Rock parade to promote dairy. Free cheese samples and recipes will be offered in Greene and Allison stores on Saturday from 1 to 5 PM.
A trail ride is planned for Sunday, June 18 starting at 11 30 am. Participants meet at the Harry Ott farm and should bring their own sack lunch.
The Kea Cross water Safety program will be held at the Parkersburg pool this summer with eight lessons from June 19 to August. Classes for Greene children run 9 and 10 am Mondays, limited to 60 per class due to space and staff, total 120 from Greene, with a few spots left. Sign up with 75 cents to Mrs. Jim Drake before June 19.
The American Legion Auxiliary sold 994 poppies for 124.62, with members going house to house and on streets. Poppies are made by disabled veterans at Iowa homes and hospitals, paid a few cents each. Funds support veteran rehabilitation and child welfare work.
The North Iowa Conference of the Methodist Church will meet Sunday June 18 in Sioux City and conclude Friday June 24. About 600 ministers and lay members plus several hundred visitors are expected to attend. Rev. Clayton Becker and Clyde Stuntz from here will attend portions of the sessions.
New residents Mr and Mrs Don Feldman welcomed a daughter Robin Dee born Wednesday June 7 at Cedar Valley Hospital Charles City weighing 8 pounds 3 1 4 ounces. Grandparents Mr and Mrs Marvin Bruns and Mr and Mrs Fred Feldman. Mr and Mrs Don Duffield welcomed a daughter Teresa Ann born Saturday June 10 weighing seven pounds. Mr and Mrs Paul Butler welcomed a daughter Janell Lynn born Friday June 9 weighing seven pounds eleven ounces.

In Mercy Hospital Waverly patient Mrs. Jeanette V McCracken. Mrs. William Nixt was taken to Cedar Valley Hospital Charles City on Monday morning.
Brownie Scout Day Camp runs June 19 to 23 at Old Round Grove with 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. sessions. Thirty five girls are registered from Clarksville Bristow and Greene, divided into three age units. transport from City Hall at 9:15 a.m.. girls to bring unbreakable cup, mosquito repellent, a spoon and a sack lunch day one, wear jeans or shorts and sturdy shoes, and label all items.
A stag supper will be held at Round Grove Golf and Country Club on Tuesday evening with members invited to attend the social event.

Fourth Quarter lists include seniors and juniors such as Carol Crosby Larry Gabe Rita Kepple Diane Murphy Tom Nixt Donna Reed Steve Rottler Lila Santee Judy Spratt Sally Townsley Dennis Wunsch with many others. Second Semester seniors repeat several names and add Mary Squires.

The Babe Ruth and Little League squads each earned their second and third wins in as many starts. They defeated Nora Springs 9 to 3 and 13 to 0, with strong pitching by Lynn Gabe and Doug Ruffridge and timely hitting. The Little League also beat Rudd 3 to 0, as Marty Bramer pitched a one hit ball and Jeff Dralle starred behind the plate. The qualifying rounds for the men’s city tournament are due by June 18, with first rounds by June 25. last year’s champ was Clyde Stuntz.
Bruce Mead returned home Saturday from Lake City Minnesota after a week at a Boy Scout National Camp School where he studied in the aquatic section. He left Sunday for the Winnebago Scout Reservation at Marble Rock to serve as waterfront director for the camping season.
Boy Scout Troop 26 will not hold meetings this summer except Friday July 7 for campgoing boys. Medical examination blanks can be picked up from Henry Smeins at Albrecht Feed Mill or his home. The July 7 meeting is for campers only due to conflicts with Little League and Babe Ruth baseball on Monday nights.
Bob Barnett underwent exploratory surgery on a Tuesday at the Veterans Hospital in Towa City. He resides at Ward 5 EB, Veterans Hospital, Towa City. Mace Bammann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Bammann, had additional surgery Sunday at Charles City and returned home Monday afternoon.
