Raymond A Bramer 48 died Saturday at St Joseph Hospital Concordia from a cerebral hemorrhage. Born March 5 1913 in Aredale he lived near there before becoming a flying instructor and airport manager. He later managed Charles City Airport and Electronics Incorporated. He married Violet Ell January 5 1942 at Bethany Missouri. Survivors include his wife two sons Raymond Jr and Douglas both of Concordia one brother Elmer M Bramer of Aredale and one sister Mrs Max Kuhn of Charles City. Funeral was held Tuesday at Diehl Funeral Home Allison officiated by Rev Donald Light and burial in Rose Hill Cemetery Greene.
The Ladies Invitational Golf Tournament will be held on Wednesday June 28 at Round Grove Golf and Country Club. Coffee is served 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. Golf begins 8:00 a.m. Lunch 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Bridge starts at 2:00 p.m.
Norman R. Graven of Greene will attend the Young Republican National Convention set for June 21 to 24 at the Radisson Hotel in Minneapolis. More than 1,000 delegates and alternates from all 50 states plus Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are expected to attend.
The 1961 62 Annual Staff of Greene Community School is announced with David Osier as editor Gordon Menken as assistant editor Judy Hauser as business manager and Carol Majewski and Janice White on the advertising committee. Other committees include Art chaired by Sharon Andrews with Jo Ann Backer Features chaired by Judy Hildebrand with several members. Photography chaired by LeVon Johnson with a large team. Sports chaired by Eldred Kingery with several assistants and Subscription headed by Jane Voigis Edith Worley Marilyn Lindell and Betty Wirth.
The first family picnic of the year will be held at Round Grove Golf and Country Club on Thursday evening June 22. Mr and Mrs Jim Mead and Mr and Mrs Robert Curtis are in charge of arrangements.
The Brownie Day Camp opened Monday at Old Round Grove and runs 9 30 to 3 30 through Friday. Miss Joan Valentine taught two folk dances Monday afternoon and Mrs Elizabeth Jones of Charles City assisted with singing and planning Tuesday. The closing ceremony is Friday at 2 30 with a program for parents and interested people.
Post office announces rate changes effective July 1 1961 covering domestic special delivery fees by weight class for first class air mail and other classes, money order fees across ranges, plus revisions to international postage rates including Canada Mexico surface mail and international airmail and parcel post.
Dale Willey, chairman, announced the first round pairings for the Men's City Golf Tournament all matches due by July 2. Pairings include Horn vs Lewison, Bachman vs Wagoner, Rottler vs Dralle Jr, Stuntz vs Brunsma, Curtis vs Finnell, Knapp vs Mead, Mair vs Dralle, Hamilton vs Green, Teeple vs Knapp, Brekke vs Nichol, Dralle vs Ott, Wentworth vs Fischer, Sneed vs Coons, Senne vs Rottler, Drakle vs Stephenson and a long bye list for many named players including Willey.
The Perrin Park summer program began Monday with the theme Lets Look Outdoors. Croquet tennis softball and shuffleboard were played while crafts included sock bird hand puppets sand covered bottles and potholder painting. Helpers listed for this week and next week are named with craft prices and needed materials such as wood scraps yarn and felt.
The Greene Junior Legion, led by manager Daryl Barth, posted three victories and one defeat this year. Myers Marsh and H Barth pitched, with Bramer and Schindelar at behind the plate. They beat Aplington 12 1, topped Charles City 8 2, and won 12 3 against Garner before a Monday loss to Sheffield 7 2. A Sunday rematch with Sheffield is set for 2 15 p m at home.
Charles Williams 102 longtime Greene resident born November 17 1859 near York farmed Osage then Greene held bank jobs led real estate business and early utility ventures. A Mason Shrine and Round Grove member he died after services at First Presbyterian Church with Masonic rites at Rose Hill cemetery conducted by Alpha Lodge No 326. funeral arrangements handled by Williams Mortuary.
Mrs. Harry Gibson 81 died June 14 at Clark Rest Home after a lingering illness. Born January 29 1880 in Nada she lived in Iowa most of her life. Survived by two daughters Mary Alden Verle Townsley Greene two sons Darrell Marion eleven grandchildren fifteen great grandchildren four brothers and two sisters. Funeral Saturday June 17 at 2:00 at Hamilton's Funeral Chapel with Rev George Knutson. burial in Hitesville Cemetery Kesley.
Mrs Donald Kimgery underwent major surgery at Methodist Hospital in Rochester Minnesota yesterday morning and will stay two weeks. Her room is 331. Mrs P C Peck had surgery this morning at Finley Hospital in Dubuque. She spent three weeks visiting her son-in-law and daughter Dr and Mrs Duane Chase and family in Dubuque.
Marine Lance Corporal Merrill J. Peters, son of Mr and Mrs John Peters of Greene, stationed on Okinawa, completed the Camp Kinser radio telegraph operation course. He studied sending and receiving the Eloise Code, naval communication procedures, typing, security, field equipment, and field operations.
New residents Mr and Mrs Frank Nikolas of Park Rapids Minnesota announce the birth of a son named Anthony Craig on Saturday June 17 weighing 8 pounds 2 ounces Mrs Nikolas is the former Betty Smeins of Greene Grandparents are Herman Nikolas Marble Rock and Henry Smeins Greene. Mr and Mrs Ronald Lauber Waterloo announce a son born Wednesday June Mth at School Hospital Waterloo weighing 7 pounds 7 ounces named Michael Nuane Mrs Lauber is the former Marlene Kingery daughter of Harold Kingery.
A hearing is scheduled for Thursday at 2:30 pm in Allison to review the appeal of Norman Bud Wolters against his dismissal from the Greene Community School System. County Superintendent K R Rowley will preside and the session will likely be held in his office.
About eighty youngsters attended the first Red Cross swimming lesson of the year at Perrin Park in Parkersburg last Monday. Beginning next week intermediate swimmers with last names A through L will swim at 8:00, while beginners and remaining intermediates go at 9:00, meeting at 8:00 and 9:00 to reach the Parkersburg sessions at 9:00 and 10:00 respectively.
The 12th Judicial District Bar Association held its summer session at Rocks in Clear Lake. Judge Henry N. Graven was honored and will soon assume duties as a routing federal judge. Carl Conway of Osage spoke at the dinner, which began at 6 30. A tea for Mrs. Graven was hosted at 3 30 at the Boyle residence in Clear Lake.
Butler County continued as a state leader in savings bonds with May sales of 105,740 dollars. John McWhirter of Allison, volunteer chairman for county campaigns, reported five months of sales totaling 678,833 dollars, reaching 59 percent of the 1961 quota.

Walter Kemming and Lowell Maxson attended the 37th annual Iowa State Fire School held at the Armory on the Iowa State University campus in Ames. Sandy Maxson accompanied them to spend the weekend there.

The Iowa Highway Commission schedules a June 29 public hearing at 8 p m in Clarksville High School for the Clarksville to Plainfield segment of Iowa 188. The 10 7 mile plan includes grading paving and right of way with a 1962 start for grading and 1963 paving and erosion control. Detour routes will be provided during construction.

Mrs Hattie Boyd and Mrs Sam Sneed returned home last Wednesday from Rochester Minnesota where Mrs Boyd has been at the Mayo Clinic for tests. They will go back to the Clinic this week for further examinations and tests.
Larry Laverne Hansen, 19, appeared in Cedar Falls District Court on Saturday June 17 and pleaded guilty to larceny in the nighttime. Judge Wild handed down a ten year reformatory term in Anamosa but suspended the sentence and ordered two years on parole. Hansen was arrested April 24, 1961, for taking gas and power tools from the Gary Doyle farm near New Hartford.
Legion team is scheduled to play Mason City next Saturday June 24 at 6 45 pm in Waterloo. The game will be played just ahead of the regular Hawks game. All Legion players must be at the bus shed by 5 15 and depart for Waterloo.
