George W. Berger 63 of 432 Campbell Ave Waterloo died Wednesday in the office of Dr. Shulman from a heart attack. Born March 25 1894 in Greene he was a WWI veteran who served as cashier of Waterloo Bank and Trust Co before joining the Iowa State Banking Dept in 1925. He later opened a tax accounting service in Marsh Place Building. Funeral services were held Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

City Planning Board urges residents and clubs to join a beautification program by planting flowers trees and shrubs. The Presbyterian Bible School began Monday in the First Presbyterian Church and runs daily 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. through June 14 with about fifty pupils from kindergarten to sixth grade. Good Neighbor Deed At Edwin Brunner Farm
Thirty six farmers with thirty four tractors gathered at Edwin Brunner farm east of Greene to plow and plant sixty five acres of corn and beans. Twenty five acres were plowed for sweet corn the following morning while twelve neighbor women served a picnic. Brunner, a Cedar Valley hospital patient, underwent major surgery last Friday morning.

Alonzo S. Woodward age 81 died May 2 in an Orlando Florida hospital. He was born in Belmidere Illinois son of John and Celia Woodward. He married Lillia Yeoman in 1897. two sons were born to that union. Wilbur C. Wiegman born June 12 1917 in Coldwater Township died in a two car crash near Wilmar station last Monday evening. His wife and three sons were hospitalized at Cedar Valley Hospital Charles City while the oldest son David 9 was released to recover at his grandparents home in Allison. Funeral services were at St John Lutheran Church Wilmar with Rev Robert Floy officiating and burial in Allison Cemetery. A fund drive for the family is under way with donations at First State Bank Greene or with Paul Dralle Greene.
