Lake Patrol Guards the Iowa Great Lakes on Water
Five patrol officers of the Iowa Conservation Commission keep 15 000 acres of water safe on the Iowa Great Lakes from April to November. They operate eight lakes, enforce water laws, issue summons, and conduct safety checks. Boat counts average 2 500 to 2 600 craft daily, with no fatal accidents in three years. In Labor Day the force shrinks to three as winter ice work begins.
