Mrs Ben Broadston lies in University Hospitals Iowa City under treatment for a heart ailment. The report notes her hospitalization and ongoing care in the medical facility.
The Twins beat the Giants 7 to 4 in extra innings as Willey pitched for the Twins and Stuaiz for the Giants. For the Twins Larry Lester Doug Willey and Steve Hildebrand had two hits apiece with Willey doubling. Kirk Heidenwirth and Jerry Shultz were behind the plate for the Yankees and Cardinals respectively.

Mrs. William H. Buchholz dies at Chautauqua Guest Home after a Cedar Valley Hospital hip fracture. Born Mary Etta Phillips in Clarksville on Aug 7 1873 she married William H. Buchholz in 1900 and lived in Greene. Funeral at First Presbyterian Church with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Leo V Harris 62 died suddenly Monday at his home in Charles City. Born December 18 1900 in Greene to Charles and Bell Harris he leaves wife one daughter Mary Ellen Ellen one son Jim Harris four brothers and one sister. Funeral services are at 3:00 PM Wednesday at St John Lutheran Church Charles City with burial in Charles City.
Greene Community Schools report routes for next year are being prepared. Supt. Tatum says a complete kindergarten enrollment list is essential. Parents who did not register should contact Mr. Koons at the elementary building at once, office daily from August 1. Rural residents who moved should reach the superintendent’s office August 1 or 2 between 1:15 and 4:30.
The Woman's Club annual flower show will be held at the high school on Tuesday August 13 from 2:00 to 7:30 p.m. The judge will be Mrs. Austin Knosby of Elma. Classification of flowers to be listed in next week's paper.
Lucille Heuer suffered a broken right leg just above the ankle after slipping on grass at her home on Thursday evening. A cast was applied and she will remain in it for six weeks before removal while recuperating at home.

Arlene Brown received a National Science Foundation grant from the University of Colorado at Boulder. In service training classes will be held in Denver starting September 26, meeting one evening weekly. Mrs Brown has accepted a senior high mathematics teaching post in Wheat Ridge, a Denver suburb.
Mr and Mrs Jerry Wagner and children Glenna and Steven returned home Friday evening after a trip through the Lake of the Woods and Winnipeg Canada and returning by way of Yellowstone Park and the Black Hills.

Robert Anderson Greene charged with failure to yield right of way with a $15.00 fine and $4.00 costs. Dumont resident Stanley Borneman charged with no muffler with a $5.00 fine and $4.00 costs. Merlin Glenn Parks Chickasaw County charged with failure to have vehicle under control with a $5.00 fine and $12.50 costs.
Raymond Truitt, nine, has suffered rheumatic fever since July 15. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. J. T. Truitt and is now recuperating at home.
William Frederick Gisser, 85, died Thursday morning at the Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City after seven months as a patient. Born March 5, 1878 in Coldwater Township, he farmed before retiring to Greene. A Methodist, he was survived by one sister, Lizette Flower of Des Moines, and 15 nieces and nephews. Funeral Saturday at 2:00 pm at the Methodist Church, Rev. Harold Miller officiating. Burial at Rose Hill Cemetery, Williams Mortuary in charge.
Eighty knot-hole tickets for the Boston Minnesota Tuins game on Saturday August 10 are secured through Verle Earth and the First State Bank of Greene. Greene Merchants beat Tripoli 7 to 2 to stay second in the Cedar Valley League. Slagle pitched all nine for Greene with 10 strikeouts. Harken started for Tripoli, relieved by Shoemaker in the fifth. Key hits came from Bob Barth Sutten Newton and Gabe. Greene had runs in the first, third and fourth innings, with two more in the fifth. Standings show Denver 6 2 and Janesville 6 2 leading, Greene 5 3. Greene hosts Denver Sunday at 2:00 PM after a tournament loss to New Hampton. a win could tie Greene with first.

Mathias Matt Nixt 81 died unexpectedly at his home Saturday morning of a heart condition. Born July 12 1882 in Union Township Floyd County he farmed until December 1962 retiring to Greene. Survived by brother Peter of Greene and several nieces and nephews Funeral Tuesday July 30 at 10 am St Marys Church with Rev Murphy officiating. interment in St Marys Cemetery with Reid's Funeral Chapel in charge
Walter Kemmuing is a patient at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City receiving ongoing treatment and care.
Butler County Fair begins Thursday August 1 and runs through Sunday. Entry hours 9 am to 9 pm with floral entries closing at 6 00. Highlights include 4-H and FFA horse events, calf scramble, tractor pull, greased pig contest, dog races, a Tournament of Thrills, and a wildlife exhibit featuring about 100 animals. Greene and Allison square off in a Saturday baseball, with prize money over 750 dollars daily.
Two farm girls were chosen as 1963 Queen of Conservation for Butler Soil Conservation District at the July 24 contest in Clarksville. Phyllis Rosenwinkle and Nancy Bergman advance to the Regional contest at Mitchell County Fair Osage on August 4.
Craig Monroe of Charles City won the invitational at Round Grove Golf and Country Club with 110 for 27 holes. Bill Day of Ankeny was runner-up with 112, Robert Curtis of Greene third with 113, and Al Miler of Cedar Falls fourth with 114. Medalist honors went to Craig Monroe with 73 for 18 holes. There were 112 players from Marinette Wisconsin and multiple Iowa towns in the field.
