Residents hosted and visited during a busy stretch with gatherings at the Walter Maxson home and the Harris, Wedeking, and Sult families. Travel included trips to Des Moines and Ames for church and nursing duties, and relatives visiting from Cedar Falls Waterloo South Bend and Connecticut.
Bethel Baptist Church members held a fellowship and quarterly business meeting in the church basement Tuesday evening. Host family included Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Van Benschoten and Shawn. After the potluck supper, Mrs. Walter Marsh presided, and Rev. Thomas announced evangelistic meetings slated for September 11 to 46 with Rev. Wayne Gordon of First Baptist Cedar Falls as evangelist.
Duane Losee listed in the U S Air Force has completed basic training at Lackland AFB Texas and is spending a 10 day delay en route with his parents Mr and Mrs Claude Losee and family. He will depart July 7 for Dover AFB Delaware.
Mr and Mrs Stephen Koenigfeld took her father Carl Fredricks to Iowa City on Tuesday to enter the General Hospital for examination and treatment. Cards may be sent to Room 1707 General Hospital University Hospitals Iowa City Iowa.
In Marble Rock Town Hall a dinner honored Leo Wood and Guy Garber for 46 years with the Marble Rock Fire Department. Wood served 34 years as Fire Chief. Guests included Mrs Wood, Galen Lines for the Town Council, Ulster Township Trustee and Mrs Don Boeckmeier, with slides shown by Rudolph Schwartz. Plaques and pins were presented by the department. The American Legion Auxiliary served the meal with Mrs Herschel Handley chairing.
Mrs Irene Barth won high at the bridge tables with Mrs Russell Smith taking second after a 1 00 oclock luncheon hosted by Mrs Clarence Adams for the Wednesday Bridge Club at her residence.
Mrs. Clair Kepple sponsored a kitchen shower Friday night in Marble Rock Town Hall for Mrs. Mike Ackley. Relatives and friends attended to present kitchen ware after a recent house fire. The evening featured progressive bingo and a lunch served at the end.
New extension books line the shelves at Marble Rock Library and are being checked out. Saturday June 25 set a one day record with 120 circulations while Friday June 24 saw 27 in attendance at reading hour. Genevieve Staudt read to 10 and Janan Prohaski to 17. Attendees who join story hour three times may earn one wagon and team from the summer program.
Marble Rock residents Mr and Mrs Dixon Marsh hosted a family gathering of 19 from Mason City LaPorte Iowa Brookings SD Omaha NE and other locales at Lonesome Pine Lodge on Bay Lake near Deerwood Minnesota. fishing was part of the excursion. Lloyd Clay of Mason City visited Mrs Dora Knoop and Pearl on Tuesday and Wednesday. Dianne Carney stayed with aunt Mrs Eugene Meyers in Charles City while Donna and Dawn Carney visited aunt Mrs Max Wedeking and family.
The Board of Directors of North Iowa Area Community College Burt, Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Franklin, Hancock, Mitchell, Worth, Winnebago, Wright Counties in Iowa will meet July 19 1966 at 702 Main Street Mason City Iowa. Taxpayers may be heard for or against the proposed expenditures for the year beginning July 1 1966 and ending June 30 1967.
