Mr and Mrs Robert Ramsdell of Cedar Rapids announce the birth of their son on Thursday evening June 30 at Mercy Hospital Cedar Rapids. The infant weighs 6 pounds 1 ounce. Mrs Ramsdell is the former Sandra Stewart, daughter of Mr and Mrs Kenneth Stewart.
Nine girls from Troop 4 Mason City and Troop 265 Greene completed a seven day bus journey to state parks national monuments and historic sites in Iowa Missouri and Illinois. The group funded the trip through newspaper and pop bottle collections bake sales dances and cookies with a net of 108 dollars from recyclables plus other earnings.

Floyd J. Ramker of Greene filed nomination papers with the secretary of state for State Representative from Butler County on the Democratic ticket. No opposition is expected in the Democratic primary on September 6. Ramker, educated in Greene Community Schools, lived in Greene most of his life except for 3½ years in the Army Air Forces during World War II. He then entered building construction, a business he ran until 1964.
Guidance counselor Gerald Cneyueusuu serves as a business education instructor at Hamilton's Business College in Mason City during an eleven weeks summer session, while also teaching at Greene Community High School.
Perrin Park gains a new shelter house built by local Junior Chamber of Commerce members. The 400 by 20 foot brick and wood structure sits on a cement floor with photos of its exterior and interior. Jaycee volunteers poured the floor and built the shelter while Howard Raisty laid bricks Walker Temple painted the wood portions and Mead Drug supplied wood preservative. The project cost about 1100 dollars and organizers plan a crushed rock walkway around the building.

Aliene June Jensen aged six and Ferlin John Jensen aged four, children of Mr and Mrs Clarence Jensen, had tonsillectomies at Floyd County Veterans Memorial Hospital in Charles City on Tuesday June 28. They were discharged home the next morning.
Kenneth E. Hart announces that petitions nominating farmers for ASC community committee seats may be filed anytime after July 1. Eligible voters may sign any number of petitions between July 1 and 27. In Iowa, elections occur in August for three committee members and two alternates.
Mr and Mrs R H Jaspers welcomed a son named Scott Dean born Thursday morning June 30 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital Charles City. The infant weighed 6 pounds 10 ounces at birth.
Leonard Miller, formerly superintendent at Elkton Minnesota for five years, accepts the county post for Butler Bremer and Franklin counties. He succeeds K R Rowley who retires August 1, ending active school work.
Steve Brunsma son of Mr and Mrs B G Brunsma hooked a four pound trout on a three day fishing trip with Mr and Mrs Duane Trees on Big Bear Stream near Decorah. The group reached the limit but his catch outweighed the others and will hang on his wall after taxidermy.
Mrs. Cleve Wilson of Allison, crusade chairman for Butler County American Cancer Society, reported a 1966 drive total of 5200.70 with a certificate of accomplishment awarded to the county chapter. The Iowa Division headquarters is in Mason City with Pauline Naber as field representative for the area.
Mrs Florian Rutz is a patient at Floyd County Veterans Memorial Hospital in Charles City where she underwent major surgery on Wednesday June 29. Mrs Harry Backer was taken to Floyd County Veterans Memorial Hospital Tuesday night where she underwent major surgery on Wednesday July 6.
Butler and Franklin Counties conservation officer Galen Heinkel will address children in the Woman’s Club safety segment of the summer recreation program on Wednesday July 13 at 9:00 AM. He will present Safety in the Outdoors at Maxson's Boat Shop, with Lyle Maxson speaking on Boat Safety.
The State Services for Crippled Children will hold a cardiac clinic in Mason City on July 14 and 15 at Herbert Hoover School for children under 21 with rheumatic heart disease or needing cardiac evaluation. Eligible counties include Butler Cerro Gordo Floyd Franklin Hancock Kossuth Mitchell Winnebago Worth and Wright. Referral by a physician or dentist is required and appointments mailed to families before the clinic. no examination fee. Cardiology, pedodontics, nursing and medical social staff and ECG techs will perform complete exams.
The 110th Butler County Fair opens in Allison on Thursday July 28 and ends Monday August 1, marking a five day run for the first time since the centennial year. Entries open 9 to 9, with junior livestock and floral hall deadlines, plus a 4 H and FFA horse show and a saddle horse event in the grandstand. Children’s Day Friday features discounted rides and a busy afternoon program including Hal Graven's acts and organ music.
Mrs. John Henning, 4, died June 29 at Clark Nursing Home Greene after nearly two years as a patient. Born Marie Harmine Kannegiesser in Norden Germany on December 7 1881 she married twice and had 6 children plus 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Services were at Bristow Reformed Church with Rev LeRoy Sankey. burial in Butler Center Cemetery near Allison.
Mr and Mrs B G Brunsma announce their son Michael has been promoted to Airman First Class. He is stationed at Grand Forks Air Force Base North Dakota since January after enlisting in March 1963 and completing basic training at Lackland San Antonio. He served as a welder in Champaign Illinois and spent over two years at Klamath Falls Oregon before Grand Forks.
A kindergarten through fourth grade group held a patriotic and pet parade Thursday morning starting at Perrin's Park and returning for prize awards. Barbara Markle won first prize for costume and bicycle. Sheryl, Jackie, Teresa and Rhonda Roberts took second for Old McDonald entry. Bruce Markle earned third with white rabbits. Twenty two children participated. prizes were awarded and treats provided by supervisor Mrs. David Markle. The group participates in the Woman's Club summer recreation program with upcoming lessons on fire safety, boat safety, and playground equipment debut.
Farmers and Merchants plan a charity softball game on Sunday July 17 with managers Bill Astor and Hunk Anderson seeking recruits and umpires. Proceeds fund Little League Babe Ruth Friday Night League and youth travel to a Twins game, others urged to contact organizers for practice.
