Supreme Court upholds Iowa reapportionment ruling
The U S Supreme Court rejects an appeal by Clarke, Wayne and Ringgold counties, leaving the temporary plan in place for 59 senators and 124 representatives. The permanent plan is dead. town labor officials urge the 1965 legislature to revise or adopt constitutional standards and set equal county representation while considering a unicameral option. Charles L. Bavis and Arthur J. Lewis of the AFL-CIO urge action or court recourse if needed. Governor Hughes doubts unicameralism but notes current houses are large.
