Mullard Russell Redix, 43, of Parkersburg appeared in District Court Friday and pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Judge Beardmore set a $300 fine plus $14 costs. Redix was arrested by the Sheriff's Office and Highway Patrol on January 13, 1963, east of Allison on Highway No. 3.
Director Lawrence A. Sogard announces two new staff members for the Butler County Department of Social Welfare. Sheila K. Compton becomes Public Welfare Worker II on January 14, 1963 after a veterinary nurse role and a BA from Bethel College. Norma R. Klingbeil is Clerk II, a native of Allison, with prior work at Dr Salsbury Laboratories and Davies Feed, returning January 30, 1963.
A Social Security Administration representative from the Waterloo district office will visit Allison at the Court House on February 14 and 28 from 9:00 to 11:00 am. Residents may also contact the Waterloo district office, room 702 of the Black Hawk Building at W. 4th and Commercial, phone 234-1554.

A local donor pledges 250 dollars to start a tax deductible scholarship loan for Greene High School graduates entering college. A board of control including the superintendent principal teachers and laypeople would oversee awards based on need with no interest and repayment after graduation. Cub Scouts held a Pack Meeting at the elementary school on Wednesday evening January 30. Lion Den No 1 led by Mrs James Schroeder and Mrs Clyde Stuntz organized the program. The ladder themed display showed four rungs depicting scouting phases. Bear Den No 3 won Den of the Month with Mrs Lyle Couture and Mrs Evelyn Wilkinson as mothers. Eugene Downing aged 11 and Mary Lou Downing aged 6, children of Mr and Mrs Louis Downing, underwent tonsilectomies at Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City on Monday. They returned home Tuesday morning.
In Rest Home Will Glazer underwent leg amputation at Cedar several weeks ago and was taken to the Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City, where he is recuperating.
The Farmers Co operative Creamery Association held its annual meeting in the high school auditorium with 142 people attending a noon lunch and a guest speech by George Atkinson of State Brand Creameries Mason City. Officers and directors were re elected: Clair Johnson president Leonard Litterer vice president Duane Smith secretary treasurer. Directors: Lowell Allen Ted Brinkman Harley Hansen. Personnel include H P Geil buttermaker Milton Humke Charles Reams assistants Phyllis Jewell bookkeeper W F Nelson fieldman. Milk haulers are Roger Lindell Duane Leavens Urban Kelly Dick Mobley Fred Nordmeyer Gordon Freeseman Paul Schrage Ronald Schuknecht. Gust Johnson and Mrs Milton Humke supervise the milk department.
Mr and Mrs Louie Juhl announce their son Dennis has reached Japan for a two year assignment. Dennis joined the Navy in January 1962 and is stationed with Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron Run at Atsugi Naval Base near Tokyo. His address is L D Juhl AERA VQI FPO San Francisco California.
New residents Mr and Mrs Gordon Schafer welcome a daughter Lori Jo born Tuesday January 29 at Cedar Valley Hospital Charles City weighing 8 lb 11 oz. Grandparents Mr and Mrs Otto Schafer and Mr and Mrs Orley Alden. Mr and Mrs Thomas Menk Hayfield welcome a son Brice Edric born Thursday January 24 weighing 8 lb 10 oz. He has a sister Jill and a brother Roger. Mrs Menk is Beverly Shreve daughter of Mr and Mrs Kenneth Shreve Greene.
The Butler District of the Winnebago Council will mark Scout Week February 7 to 13 with the theme Strengthen America Be Prepared Be Fit and 467 members joining 5,200,000 others in rededicating to the Scout Oath on February 8. Unit level observances include Blue and Gold Open Houses, potluck dinners, inductions of new Cub Scouts, skits on How Scouting Began, parents nights, hobby displays, and honors at courts of honor.
Charles Clark, 81, passed away Saturday in Centerville. Survived by son Wilson Clark of Greene and several grandchildren. Mr and Mrs Wilson Clark and Roger attended the funeral services held Tuesday in Centerville.

Grace Ernist Schermerhorn 8 of Spokane Washington died at her daughter’s Denver home on February 2. Born October 26 1881 in Greene she was the daughter of Silas and Cora Ernist. She is survived by her daughter two grandchildren one great grandchild a brother George Ernist and two sisters Stella Glaser and Edna Ryan. Funeral services were in Spokane with burial there.
Raymond Francis Murray of Charles City charged with speeding faces an 8800 dollar fine and 4 dollar costs. Lloyd A. Crosby of Clarksville charged with passing a stopped school bus with a 25 dollar fine and 10 dollar costs.
Mrs Emil Ruzicka returned home Thursday from St Josephs Mercy Hospital in Mason City where she had been a patient for three weeks and underwent surgery.
