A 1960 corn crop final estimate shows a drop from earlier forecasts yet remains the second best in the state’s non-Pace Town region. The Hewarting Service field reports 768,978,000 bushels at an average of 62 bushels on 12,419,000 acres. Wheat production falls to 2,985,000 bushels from 3,317,000 in 1959 due to fewer planted acres. An Iowa editor notes an alumnus of the State University of Iowa journalism school.
