Mr and Mrs George R Stark traveled from Falcraft Pennsylvania to attend the funeral of Alice D Hansen sister of Mrs Stark. Relatives from Clinton Iowa Moline Rockford Osage Belmond Cedar Rapids Charles City Marshalltown and Norwalk joined in the service and reception.
Persis Pooley returned to Christi Texas on Saturday for a holiday visit with Greene. Her parents Mrs Bert Pooley and another family member joined to spend three months.
J. T. Truitt entered a hospital in Rochester on Monday for examination and returned home on Friday. Edward Thompson reported that Mrs. Fred Camp attended the McCarthy Nursery, 5368 Southeast Flavel, formerly residents of Portland. The late Mr. Camp had ties with Amos Ingles Inc in Iowa.

Mrs Edward Heitland and Mrs Don Steere co chairmen report 2099 Butter-Nut Coffee strips mailed to Omaha Nebraska in the pre Christmas drive. A small cash credit is allowed for each strip toward toys for orphaned children of veterans next Christmas. This is a yearly American Legion Auxiliary project.
Mr and Mrs John Peters announced their son Merrill has been promoted to Lance Corporal in the Marines. He has been stationed on Okinawa since April 21 1960.
Miss Eleanor Pooley will return to New Brunswick New Jersey on Friday after spending a month visiting at the home of her parents Mr and Mrs Roy Pooley.
Frank Oscar Cook, 52, of Shell Rock, was arrested by the Highway Patrol on January 1 near Shell Rock on 23 counts of Operating Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated. He appeared in Justice of Peace Court in Allison, bond set at $500, and was released from the Allison County jail after furnishing bond.
Mr and Mrs Ray Wharton of Hampton and Mr and Mrs Rossoe Wharton and Penny of Greene took John Wharton to Chicago Illinois on Sunday where he is attending the DeVry Technical School John had spent the holidays with his parents in Greene.
The adult farmer class will meet on Monday January 9 at 8 pm. The sixth class of the year will cover Planning Ahead For More Efficient Farmsteads.

Edwin Roy Moore of Greene was fined 10.00 dollars with 5.00 dollars costs for a stop sign violation. Henry Pascal of Pocahontas was fined 4.00 dollars with 0.00 dollars costs.
Seven Butler County residents have joined a committee to help plan discussions in Butler County next February on Iowa's future. Members include Don Hagarty, Mrs. W. A. Zimmerman, Mrs. Paul Rosenwinkle, Rev. Wayne Gehman, Dennis Bienemann, Dale Grapp, and Mrs. I. B. Fleshner. Roger W. Siuren returns Thursday to Fort Devin Massachusetts where he serves as an ASA instructor after a ten day furlough spent at his parents Mr. and Mrs. Willard Marsh home.

The board of Investors Mutual Inc declared a quarterly dividend of 9 cents per share payable January 12, 1961 to shareholders of record December 29, 1960. This marks the 81st consecutive dividend payment by the fund. The company has about 151.164 million shares outstanding, up from 140.3 million a year ago, with total dividends of 13.6035 million paid to 818,750 shareholders.
Taxpayers are urged to fill and return the information card enclosed with the Iowa resident individual income tax return. The punched card identifies taxpayers by code number to prevent errors in name, address, and social security numbers, reducing added expense for taxpayers and the tax authorities. Take the card to tax returns and have your consultant enclose it with forms and payment.
Mr and Mrs Amara Burt of Algona welcome twin daughters born December 30. The lighter weighed three pounds and the heavier five pounds, both placed in an incubator. Mrs Burt, former Phyllis Hardy of Greene, already has two sons.

Mrs. Alice Dolan underwent surgery this morning in the hospital at Monticello. The report notes she is in stable condition and receiving standard post operative care.

The Greene Commercial Club convenes a quarterly meeting and supper on Wednesday evening January 11 at 6 30 in the Greene high school cafeteria. Officers for 1961 will be installed during the gathering.

Jerry Maxson has resumed teaching in Denver Colorado after a holiday visit at the home of her parents Mr and Mrs Lyle Maxson.
Mr and Mrs Graydon Anderson and Mr and Mrs Oscar Anderson attended a reception at the home of Mr and Mrs Marvin Kollman in Waterloo Sunday afternoon. The event honored the Kollmans daughter and son in law Mr and Mrs Joe Ortiz of Minneapolis who were married on November 27.
Mr and Mrs Roy Pooley will leave tomorrow for Mesa Arizona to spend the winter. They plan a seasonal stay in the desert city and will likely return in the spring.
Darrell Robert, son of Mr and Mrs Dale Schroeder, was baptized on Friday evening December 30 at his parents home by Rev G F Butler. Present were his grandparents Mr and Mrs D H Elis Mr and Mrs Herman Schroeder and Mr and Mrs M M Johnson Mrs Butler also attended.

Dinner guests included Mr and Mrs Gary Loonan of Chicago Whnos and Mr and Mrs Frank Kielty of Hampton visiting Mrs Mary O'Brien on Monday in her home.
The traditional burning of the greens will occur on the Klass property at the end of North Second Street Thursday at 7 00 pm. Brownie princesses and Girl Scout queens will be crowned, with Christmas carols sung. Brownies and Girl Scouts should be at the grounds by 6 45. Those whose trees were not picked up may place them on the parkway or bring them to the grounds. Public attendance is encouraged on the eve of Epiphany.
Bruce Marsh, a Navy serviceman based in San Diego, left yesterday for Japan where he will spend the next few months. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Marsh.
