A family Christmas dinner was held at Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brinkman's home. Attending were Ray Brinkman and family, Darrell Brinkman and Greene, Clarence Brinkman and family, Kenneth Brinkman and son of Clarksville, Will Duncan and family of Bassett, Joe Huber of Chicago, Lieutenant Junior Grade and Mrs. Nelson Bose of San Diego California.
Christmas day guests at the Will Cheney home included Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kammeyer, Joan and Jim of Bloomington Minnesota, Kathy Kammeyer of Clarksville, Terry Shook of Indianola, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cheney and family and Mrs. Lyle Shook.
Airman Keith Harris Airman Tom Morgan and Airman John Siano from Cannon AFB New Mexico visited Keith Harris parents Mr and Mrs Cecil Harris in Greene last Friday for Christmas. They left Monday for New York to spend New Year with Mr Siano's parents before returning to Clovis.
One day last week Everett Next returned home from Mercy Hospital in Mason City after undergoing major surgery.
Christmas dinner guests at the home of Mr and Mrs Leslie Barnhart include Mr and Mrs Charles Barney of Perry Missouri Mr and Mrs Dean Walst on and family of Manchester Mr and Mrs Virgil Runge and Mark of Nora Springs and Mr and Mrs Merlin Parks and Brian Also Mr and Mrs Don Neely of Elizabeth Illinois visited Monday evening to spend the week with their parents.

Butler County schools celebrate the fourth year of the county sponsored special class for trainable children. The six students receive lessons in numbers and words, social skills, puzzles, lunch-time etiquette, music and physical play. The program aims to reduce long term dependence while keeping children in their home communities. Donations to support equipment can be left with the County Superintendent at Allison.

On Okinawa Private First Class Daryl Shook son of Mrs Calista Shook arrived December 16 and expects to spend a year there.
Lucy Tubbs Moorehouse, 87, longtime Greene resident, died Friday at Clark Rest Home from complications of old age. Born August 20, 1873 in Delhi to Elisa and Melvina Tubbs, she married John Moorehouse and had a daughter who died in infancy. Surviving are a foster daughter Mrs. George Clark and several nieces and nephews. Funeral with Rev. John J. Jones at Church of Christ Tuesday at 2 p.m. Williams Mortuary handled arrangements. burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
David Michael Snyder of Charles City was fined five dollars and four dollars costs in Justice of Peace Frank Knight's court for improper turn. Richard Gene Ross was fined fifteen dollars and four dollars costs in Mayor Kelly's Court for failures to have car under control.
Tickets are available for a Swine Management and Marketing Clinic on January 17 from 9 30 to 3 30 in the Farm Bureau Auditorium at Allison. Everette Stoneberg and Lee Kolmer of Iowa State University will discuss management and marketing topics including feeder pigs litters and price trends. Private Leon Williamson of Fort Dix New Jersey and H A Larry Williamson at Great Lakes Naval Training Station are spending two weeks with their mother Mrs Leora Williamson. Private Williamson who has been at Mechanics School Fort Dix will be sent to Germany after his furlough.

Butler County will keep 3618 acres out of production under soil bank conservation reserve contracts in 1961. Land staying idle under prior contracts may not be cropped or grazed for the contract life and tenants receive annual fall rentals. No contracts terminate in 1960. land exiting reserve can be idle twice the contract years without reducing future allotments. Nationwide about 90000 contracts expire in 1960, leaving roughly 28.6 million acres in reserve in 1961.
Four quarter chairmen are named for the Red Cross county drive. Walter Bristow covers Bennedette, Coldwater, Fritts ford and West Point. August Brocka-Parkersburg oversees Teaver Albion Shell Rock Jefferson. Vernon Hassman Plainfield controls Dayton Fremont Jackson Butler. Mrs. C B Eckles Aplington leads Monroe Washington Madison Ripley. They will appoint township chairs and then a school district chair in each area.
Greene man Miler Nelson, 59, drove his car through the Lauderama window Monday night while backing up. Property damage to the car and window estimated at 300 dollars. Deputy Sheriff Marvin Barth issued two summons for lacking control and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.
A Christmas Eve and Day family gathering at the Veteran's Club brought together the Fuerst family of Villa Park Illinois Rev and Mrs Martin Heist of Madison Wisconsin and Mr and Mrs Jerry Starkweather and family of Norwalk. A Social Security Administration representative from the Waterloo district will visit Allison Court House on January ? and January 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon to help with applications for old age survivors and disability benefits, and with social security account numbers and employer identification numbers. Harold Morton Stovall age 30 of Parkersburg pleaded guilty Saturday to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated Judge Wild sentenced him to 90 days in the County jail in Allison Stovall was arrested in Parkersburg by the Highway Patrol December 16th.
Alice Starkweather Hansen born November 13 1891 near Greene founder of De Sweather, died Sunday at Cedar Valley Hospital after extended illness. Survived by sons Arthur and Harold, daughters Mrs Lyle Shuling and Mrs Galen Martzahn, six brothers, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral at First Methodist Church with Rev Clayton Becker officiating. burial Rose Hill Cemetery. Hamilton's Funeral Chapel in charge.
Air Force Dallas Foster son of Mr and Mrs Lowell Foster left Tuesday for Des Moines to enlist in the United States Air Force. He will be sent to the Air Force Base at San Antonio Texas.
