Tips To Guide Selection Of Best Holiday Tree

A guide to choosing Christmas trees outlines common evergreen species. Balsam fir is scarce, with flat dark green needles. Douglas fir is the top commercial tree with blue green needles around the limb. Scotch pine has long needles in clusters. Black spruce is hardy but dark and dyed. White spruce is attractive but emits a strong odor. When selecting, look for needle retention, full shape, no sagging limbs, pleasant fragrance, and springy branches.
