Mrs Lyle Bienemann of Clarksville was admitted to University Hospital Iowa City last Wednesday for observation and treatment. Address 4th floor room 42. Mrs Bienemann is Fern Smith of Greene, daughter of Clifford and Mrs Smith. Floyd Ramker was taken to Veteran's Hospital Des Moines on Friday for treatment. Address 34 311.
The Iowa Division of the American Cancer Society announces memorials established for Paul DeBower Lester Griner Anna Bruns Margaret Hummel and Elizabeth Kothe from August 8 to November 21. Memorials may be established by contacting Mrs. Andrew Reid in Greene the Butler County memorial chairman.
Roy Henline is moving his repair shop this week from the Farmer's Inc Co-op Building to a new structure on the Keith Zureher property. The business will be on North High Street beside the new Highway 14, about three blocks north of the Brethren Church, with plans to resume operations next Tuesday December 27 at the new site.
Mr and Mrs Harry Green returned home from Rochester New York on Friday evening after visiting their son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs John Nagy Jr and family Mrs Green flew to Rochester in November for an extended visit and Mr Green drove there last week to greet a new grandson Kevin John born on December 7 weighing 8 pounds 8 ounces
Mrs. Mabel Anthony received a call from her son, Cpl. Jim Anthony, stationed in Viet Nam with communications in the Marine Corps. He was on a five day rest and recreation pass in Hong Kong, from Phu Bai near Da Nang, and has been in Vietnam since last April.
ASCS plans a directory of farm ponds where public fishing is allowed in Iowa counties. Farmers will be asked to list ponds. the directory aims to help fishermen locate accessible sites for 1967 season.
Mr and Mrs Bruce Maier welcomed a daughter named Vickie Ann born Thursday December 15 at Floyd County Veterans Memorial Hospital Charles City. The infant weighed six pounds six ounces and has a 2 year old brother Gary. Grandparents are Mrs Charles Hodges Marble Rock and Mr and Mrs Donald Allan Greene.
The Commercial Club hosts a final pre Christmas gift drawing this Saturday at 3:00 PM. Participants may register at any listed stores through the week, with stores open every evening and closing Saturday at 5:00 PM.
Mrs Sam Crooks is home in Rochester Minnesota after a stay at St Marys Hospital. She will rest at home for a couple of weeks before returning to the hospital for further treatment.
Holiday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Rottler include Mrs. Rottler’s sister Miss Persis Pooley of Corpus Christi Texas. their daughter Ann a student at Cottey College Nevada Missouri. son Steven a graduate student at Iowa State University Ames. and their son and daughter-in-law Mr and Mrs Gary Rottler and their sons who also attend Iowa State University. The Gary Rottlers will visit in the home of Mrs. Rottler’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry Green.
The Ramblers lost to Saint Ansgar 57 to 51, as the Saints stayed undefeated atop the Corn Bowl Conference. Greene struggled from outside, Gabe led with 17, Siemons 14, Barth 10. Ramblers outrebounded 38 to 40 but squandered free throws 5 of 14 while Saints hit 13 of 19.
In a detailed scoring line, the B squad trailed early but lost to the Saints 47 to 28. Jim Shultz led locals with 13 points, followed by Gary Johnson with eight and Sampson and Feldt leading the Saints with 13 and 10. The Greene Ramblerettes battled Allison before falling 69 to 42 as Ellen Mosher scored 51. Mary Rottler top-scored for Greene with 20. The Ramblers head to Rockford Tuesday.
Greene Fire Department responded Saturday at 1 45 PM to a grass fire at Veron Johnson farm. Johnson was burning corn husks when flames spread along the road but caused no damage.
Holiday visitors from Duarte California include Mr and Mrs Jim Osier and children Julie and Randy spending the holidays with Mr and Mrs Donald Osier and Mr and Mrs Verle Barth.
State welfare official Mr. 4. P. Peterson conducts a routine audit of Butler County Department of Social Welfare financial records. The department administers medical assistance for the aged and other aid programs, with benefits totaling 363,405.43 for the last fiscal year ending June 30, 1966. Auditor based in Allison, seeks cooperation of county officials.
Miss Eleanor Pooley of Mesa Arizona arrived Monday night to spend the holiday season with her parents Mr and Mrs R J Pooley and other relatives.
Pvt Ewing Miller has completed basic training at Fort Ord California. He will visit his mother Mrs Gladys Miller in Greene and Des Moines during the Christmas holiday.
Mrs Betty Poppe and Sharon arrive in Greene on Thursday to spend ten days with relatives and friends over the Christmas holiday. They will return to Mesa Arizona on New Year s Day.

The high school concert band and mixed chorus present their first season concert at the high school auditorium tonight at 7:45 P M. The band debuts in new uniforms under Ray Holtz and the 65 member chorus under Harold Blosser. Public invited. Rambler Club season tickets and stereo recordings of contest selections on sale.
Army Specialist Fourth Class Nile V. Myers, 21, son of Mrs. Viola L. Myers of Aredale, reassigned to the Security Guard Company, Special Troops, at U S Army Vietnam headquarters in Tan Son Nhut on November 25. Selection for the guard depends on conduct, appearance and past record. Myers was with the 1st Infantry Division and has earned the Combat Infantryman Badge. He graduated Greene Community High School in 1963.
The American Legion Auxiliary of Greene collected over 3500 coffee labels and strips from Butter-Nut Coffee. Residents dropped them at local groceries and the project, led by chairman Mrs. Zula Ramker, uses the strips to obtain toys for homeless children.
The 7th grade Ramblers beat Nashua 15 to 10 and the 8th grade 28 to 17. Rattler led seventh graders with 9 points, Majewski topped eighths with 11, and Nashua’s Wright had 14. Both teams travel to Nora Springs today.
Specialist 4 Charles W. Steere of Fort Carson Colorado arrived home Friday to spend the holidays with his parents Mr and Mrs William Steere Jr and family. He will return to Fort Carson on January 4.
Mrs Donald Steere underwent surgery Tuesday morning at Floyd County Veterans Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
Leonard Buss 47 of Hampton died after a Monday illness and heart attack in the early hours Tuesday. Funeral service Thursday afternoon was attended by Gordon Freeseman, Glenn Freeseman, William Freeseman and De Laine of Greene, Ross Enabait of Marble Rock, Leland Sellers of Osage, Eventa Freeseman of Mason City, and others from the area.
Tom Green, holiday visitor, arrives Saturday evening from the Navy Officers Candidate School in Newport Rhode Island. He plans a visit with his parents Mr and Mrs Harry Green.
The Rambler wrestlers defeated Mason City Newman 45 to 3 last evening, with multiple pins and only one loss by decision. Dougherty's team remains undefeated in conference duals and took wins in both individual matches and the B team.
All interested women and men may sign up for a three day Kitchen Center Shortcourse in Allison. The program runs January 17 24 and 31 1967 from 1 14 to 3 15 p m with Naomi Shank ISU Extension Specialist leading the first two days. Registration is 1 50 including materials coffee and donuts.
Rev and Mrs John G Butler of Detroit announce the birth of their son on Wednesday December 14 at Mt Carmel Hospital Detroit. He weighs 8 pounds 4 ounces and is named David Mark. A sister Elizabeth Anne age four attends. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Wilburt Carter of Taylor Michigan and Mr and Mrs Garth Butler.
Mr and Mrs Harry Stanton of Manchester welcome son Patrick Thomas born Saturday December 17 at Delaware Memorial Hospital. The baby weighs 7 pounds 12.5 ounces. Grandparents are Thomas H Rivers, Sioux City and Ambrose Stanton of Greene. Patrick has sisters Lynda 5 and Suzanne 2.
In a see-saw junior high boys game on Tuesday December 13 the seventh grade Ramblers defeated Allison Bristow 21 to 19 in double overtime. Joe Shultz 7 Mark Bigler 2 Ricky Landers 6 Tom Heidenwirth 6 led scoring for Greene with shy highlights from Shultz and Landers while Allison’s Schrage and Reiher had 7 and 6.
