The Marble Rock Contract Bridge Club met at Mrs. Talmer Dahlen’s home for the annual Christmas Party with a potluck supper. Ed Enabait won high and Florence Schmitt was second at the bridge tables. A gift exchange occurred.
Mrs. Willard Feltus and Jane hosted a post nuptial kitchen shower at their home honoring Mrs. Bob King. Relatives and friends were present and refreshments were served by the hostess at the close of the evening.
Four Marble Rock churches plan Christmas programs this year with services on December 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Bethel Baptist and Lutheran churches and a 7:45 p.m. film at Fath Baptist Church. The Methodist Church program will be on Christmas Eve.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon December 14 at Reid's Funeral Chapel Marble Rock for Mrs Nora Alfreda Lord age 65 who died Thursday December 11 at Cedar Valley Hospital Charles City after several days as a patient. Nora Allen born December 29 1898 in Pleasant Grove Township daughter of Ervin C and Leota Adams Allen survived by four sisters and burial was at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
The Womens' Society of Christian Service gathered in the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall Thursday evening. Guests included ladies from the Rudd Methodist Church W S C S. After a potluck supper, Marble Rock Society members presented a program titled The Birthday of a King with participants in Bible-era costumes.
Bonnie Harris a nursing student at Mason City Junior College was honored at bridal showers hosted in Mason City by classmates and instructors. She previously attended another shower hosted by Mrs Ernest Kock and others. The celebrations featured Christmas colors and games with relatives and out of town guests from Greene Charles City Rockford Rudd and Nashua. Bonnie Harris married Bonnie Eugene Schriever of Rockford at the Methodist Church Friday evening.
Mrs Adrian Dolan entertained in their home Saturday afternoon for Madonna Dolan turning seven. Guests were Madonna's friends from Roseville Academy. Games were played and Madonna received gifts as ice cream and birthday cake were served at the conclusion.
Union Leaders met Saturday December 12 at Jeannie Hildebrand’s home with twelve members and two leaders present. New member Jacqueline Walsher joined as officers were installed for the coming year. Beverly Fish demonstrated a Christmas centerpiece and Janet Hamilton made name tags. The club planned caroling and a Christmas party for December 14 with refreshments served.
About twenty eight junior and senior members of the Methodist M accompanied by Mr and Mrs Marvin Bushbaum went caroling to homes in Marble Rock Sunday evening following their tour they returned home.
After the Methodist Church service, Mrs Willard Feltus, Mrs Don Harms, and Mrs John Chambers hosted refreshments for attendees, providing chilled beverages and light treats in a friendly social moment.
A Methodist Church junior choir caroled Thursday evening, making twelve stops for shut ins. Twenty two fourth, fifth and sixth graders joined by Mr and Mrs Jim Stone and Mr and Mrs Le Roy Kinger, returned to Town Hall for refreshments with Mrs Lawrence Chrishe assisting.
