Butler County 4 H and F F A members may tattoo three baby beefs this year but may show only two at the 1965 Butler County fair due to limited barn space. A carcass show will be staged next year. January 1 is the enrollment deadline, with reports due to the Extension Office.
The Sno Ball will be held in the high school gym on Tuesday December 29 from 7 30 to 11 36 p m. Sponsored by the student council the event features a full length movie and a dance with music by The Newport Five from the State College of Iowa. Refreshments will be served. The dance is open to junior high high school alumni and guests under school rules.
Merit scholarships and awards totaling 53305 have been presented to 283 Iowa State University students for the winter and spring quarters. Janet Fiddick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Fiddick, was recipient of a scholarship. To qualify, students must be enrolled full time and have completed at least one quarter at Iowa State with an average of at least 2.5 in the previous quarter or during their college career.

A one car crash Sunday afternoon near Clarksville injured three people. Driver Conrad Carl Lancelle a 38 year old man, his brother Fred, and son Rodney were treated at Waverly Hospital for facial cuts and bruises. The Sheriff’s office in Allison is investigating.
Lee Wayne Meyer aged 19 of Parkersburg was arrested in Ap lington late Sunday on four charges reckless driving tail lights throwing trash on the highway and consuming beer on the public highway. Meyer pleaded guilty in Dean Wiegmann's court and was sentenced to 90 days in the county jail on all charges. Miller was arrested by the Highway patrol.
St Ansgar Saints jumped to an early lead and held on to defeat the Ramblers 61 to 51. Jerry Kline sparked the Saints with scoring runs while Greene reserves edged Greene 45 43 in overtime. Ramblers host Rockford January 5 after holiday break.
The Rambler reports the matmen finished fifth among eight schools at the Calmar wrestling tourney last Saturday. Turkey Valley won, Nashua was second. Nick Wihli captured the 133 pound title by decisioning Newton of Nashua. Larry Wihlm dropped a 2 to 1 riding time decision to Lechberg of Turkey Valley in the finals.
Galen Schuknecht won the hog at the McRoberts Implement appreciation day last Friday. He guessed the exact weight of 230 pounds.
The Ramblerette varsity team will play a women alumni basketball game at the local high school gym next Wednesday evening December 20 at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.
Gene Miller aged 38 of Barkersburg appeared in Dean Wiesmann's court in Allison Monday morning and pleaded guilty to intoxication. Information was signed by Marvin Barth, Deputy Sheriff.
The Greene Fire Department responded at 12 45 p m last Friday to extinguish a grass fire at the Albert Barth farm east of Greene. The blaze apparently spread from the city dump into the field.
Tina Rae Reams two percent month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Reams of Greene died suddenly at 1 15 am Tuesday December 22 at Cedar Valley Hospital Charles City. Born September 30 1964 at Cedar Valley Hospital to Charles and Nancy Gibson Reams. Survivors include parents and grandparents Marion Gibson Greene Kenneth Reams Marble Rock. Graveside services December 24 at West Side Cemetery Marble Rock at 2 00 o clock with Rev Richard Stoneberg Aredale officiating Reid's Funeral Chapel in charge.
Five Philippine nurses from St. Mary's Hospital Rochester Minnesota. Tessie Borromeo Adelaida Tucio Lucita Govena Delores Trailaor and Adelaida Villareal visited in the Ivan Clikeman home three days last week. The group on a two year exchange program toured Greene Community School on Monday and noted differences between the Greene School system and their homeland.
Mr and Mrs Robert Burge of Garden Grove California announce the birth of a daughter Linda Elizabeth born December 14 weighing 8 pounds 8 ounces Mrs Burge is the former Joan McRoberts daughter of Mr and Mrs John McRoberts
State reports November disbursements totaling 4 369 000 for Old Age Assistance Medical Assistance for the Aged Aid to Dependent Children and Aid to Blind with 29 036 cases. Nursing homes received 735 595 for 5 590 MA A and OAA recipients while 89 percent backed the elderly. Hospital and drug payments stood out with 254 746 to hospitals and 200 122 to druggists. Irene M. Smith notes medical and nursing home care accounted for about 34 percent of Novembers 4 945 000 public assistance. no medical services or hospitalization were available for severely disabled recipients due to funds.
Larry Eugene Wihlm of Greene was charged with speeding in a restricted zone. He paid a $20.00 fine and $4.00 costs.
Howard Clapham returned home Friday from Mercy Hospital in Mason City after a week of treatment. John Henning, son of Mr and Mrs John H Henning, came home Tuesday from Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City following an appendectomy.
The Church of the Brethren hosts a Christmas Eve program with Sunday School children performing poems, songs, and plays. The event features numerous student acts, readings, and group songs, plus an offering for World-Wide Missions and concluding prayers.

Mr and Mrs Michael Potter of Minneapolis Minnesota welcomed a son born Monday December 21. The baby weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces and has been named Christopher Alichne. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Wilbur Danford of New Hampton and Mr and Mrs William Potter of Greene.
Robert Kock of Greene received a gold watch from her Aircraft for leading the twelve district area in oil and grease sales, earning top honors in the program.
Infant Shawn Larry Voigts was baptized on Sunday December 13 by Rev I J Devies. Dinner guests at the Voigts included Fred Voigts and guests Ray Jacob son and David, Frank Ichman and Howard Davis of Garner.
Greene freshmen edged Marble Rock 28 to 25 in a tight opener. Key plays by Gregg Dralle and Bruce Nettleton secured the win as Dralle scored 10 points and Nettleton added six with other contributors including Eimers Drakle Maxson and Thompson.
St John’s Lutheran Church Wilmar presents a Christmas program titled A Promise Fulfilled with performances by Dorothy Dalsgaard and HB Kildahl Jr. including choirs, nursery and kindergarten songs, and class readings. The event features processionals Angels from the Realms of Glory and Oh Come Immanuel with parts by 9th grade girls, micah group, and Sunday School children.
