Butler County Beef Producers Set Goal
Butler County Beef Producers launched a membership drive to strengthen the county council and support a new voluntary state beef organization. President Russell Hummel of Allison urges at least 100 members this winter to back a lobbying push against discriminatory personal property taxes on beef animals. The State Beef Producers Association will run alongside the current tax supported Beef Association with plans for broader publicity, quality improvement, disease control, and defense of beef against unfavorable legislation and synthetic competition. Meetings are set across 12 districts to boost membership and loosen the tax burden in the upcoming legislative session. State dues are $5, with county dues not yet set. producers and cooperators may join both for $5. Commercial interests can obtain supporting memberships at the same level.
