Laurie Lynn Luchtenburg, infant daughter of Mr and Mrs George Luchtenburg of Allison, was baptized during Sunday morning worship at St John’s Lutheran Church Wilmar. Rev Emmett Busch officiated with sponsors Miss Linda Luchtenburg and Miss Marjorie Brinkman.
Harvey Tiemens has returned home Friday from Floyd County Veteran's Memorial Hospital in Charles City where he spent ten days receiving treatment for an infection in his hand. He is now recuperating at home.
A three day course on Beef Production and Management will be held in Allison on January 18 25 and February 1 1967 starting at 930 a m and ending at 300 p m Kay A Connelly Butler County Extension Director says I S U specialists will cover topics from management to nutrition with a 5 registration fee advance registration required Coffee donuts noon meals and handout materials are included Attendees welcome and further information is available from the Extension office in Allison The event is co sponsored by Butler County Extension Service and the Butler County Beef Producers Association.
Mrs. Donald Maifeld 33 and her eight year old son Gregory of Route 3 Cedar Falls were injured in a two car crash on Highway 218 near North Cedar at 12 45 p m Sunday. Jason D Gage 44 Cedar Falls and his son Melvin 19 were involved. Melvin had minor injuries, both adults admitted to Sartori Hospital with back chest and shoulder injuries for Mrs Maifeld and head lacerations for Gregory.
Greene hosts a free movie afternoon and a turkey drawing sponsored by local businesses. Second turkey winners include Janet Schipper and many others, with final drawings set for December 10 and 17 at 8 30 p m. Merchandise drawings occur December 24 at 3 00 p m. Santa plans to visit main street after the shows.
The Ramblerette B team defeated host Manly 43 to 30 to move to 5 wins and 1 loss. Melinda Dral le Jed Greene scored 24 points, Mary Stauffer 14, and Janea Fischer with Valerie Starkweather 2 each as the guard court contributed across the lineup. Evans led Manly with 15 points. Next Monday the Ramblerette B team travels to Dumont for a 7:00 p.m. start.
Butter-Nut coupons must be left in containers at B & W Food Market Drake's and Morey's Food Market by Saturday December 10. Each coupon or label funds a Christmas gift for a child in an orphanage.
Butler Bremer County area civil defense management class meets Wednesday nights on December 7 14 21 January 4 11 18 25 February 1 8. For civil defense directors and officials, 7 to 10 p.m. at the Allison High School Building. Taught by Jay Murray of Iowa State University Ames Iowa.
At the library’s November meeting the Community Center gained permission to use three front rooms over the library for extra space. This expands meeting capacity for two groups. Calendar activities and group events require calling Mrs. Martyn Wunsch at 823 4475. Purchases for furnishings including chairs and card tables are planned, with donations welcomed to Mrs. B. V. Andersen.
Dr William Olson District Federal Veterinarian announced sheep flocks in Floyd County will be inspected for sheep scab after December 1 through January Norman Flick of Charles City will assist in the first inspections If symptoms appear Olson will conduct a second visit and dipping at no cost to farmers If farms are missed farmers may call Flick or Olson in Charles City for inspection arrangements
The Rambler team defeated Clear Lake 34 to 14 on Saturday night as they prepare to host Rockford Friday. Mike Weinberg earned a forfeit win. Doug Trees Duane Leavens and Dave Wihlm earned decisive victories. Allen and Cheney also delivered quick pins. The Rambler B squad fell 19 25 but showed competitive effort in a tight meet.
The combined elementary and junior high band and vocal department will present a Christmas concert next Wednesday evening December 14 at the high school auditorium. The program begins at 7 45. Each grade will perform with every child participating. Mr Harold Blosser directs the vocal studio and Ray Hertz the band. The public is invited to attend. The high school students present their Christmas concert on December 21.
Postmaster Curtis announced a 1966 Christmas stamp replicating Memling’s Madonna and Child with Angels is now on sale at Greene post office. The stamp from the National Gallery of Art painting supports first class handling and guarantees forward motion for unchanging addresses.
Wilbert Zimmerman 66 of Aredale dies in two car crash near Ottawa Illinois on Tuesday November 29. Her husband is critically injured and hospitalized at St Mary's LaSalle. Survivors include daughter Helen Wallace of Ashland Kentucky son Karl Zimmerman five grandchildren two brothers one sister. Funeral held Saturday at 1 30 PM at Methodist Church Aredale burial in Dumont cemetery.
Charles Ray of Miller Real Estate announces the sale of the Jack White house at 307 North Fourth Street. Mr and Mrs Kenneth Johnson took possession December 1. Mr Johnson works at the Packard Elevator.
Butler County reports total public assistance spending of 29680 with 16409 for Old Age Assistance 2380 for Medical Aid to the Aged 7081 for Aid to Dependent Children 1119 for Aid to Blind and 2691 for Aid to Disabled. Medicare costs not included. Per case costs: Old Age Assistance 97.39 Medical Aid to the Aged 46.52. Monthly total reflects November data with a $33116 decrease from prior month.
Russell Folkers came home Sunday from Park Hospital in Mason City after a week of observation and treatment.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jensen welcomed a daughter named Debra at Floyd County Memorial Hospital on December 5. The infant weighed 8 pounds 2 ounces. Debra has one sister and three brothers. Grandparents are Carl Jensen of Charles City and Harry Brinkman of Greene.

Twenty four beginning welfare workers from sixteen county departments of Social Welfare will gather December 5 at the State Department of Social Welfare offices in Des Moines for a week of training. Led by Mrs Leota Creger the group will study state and federal laws and policies, methods to help people in need, and use of community resources. The schedule includes field visits to Des Moines welfare agencies and talks by division heads. Mary M Weber of Butler County is among attendees.
Greene report: Ramblers and Ramblerettes win against North Central Friday. Mrs. Melvin Schmidt of Greene wins 25 silver dollars in the Operation Santa Claus drawing at First State Bank, with prize reception to be aired on KGLO-TV at 4 45 Saturday alongside 42 other area winners after the pro football game.
A Boy Scout Court of Honor was held in the elementary school auditorium on Monday evening November 28. Tender foot badges went to Tom Heidenwirth Jack Reid Randy DeVries Tim Hamilton Douglas Miller Kenny Wunsch Loel Williamson Russell McGee Allan Tinderholt and Anthony Gard.
Rambler B players posted a 64 13 win over Nora Springs on November 28 and a 45 29 victory over North Central of Manly on December 5. Jim Shultz led Nora Springs game with 18 points, Wendell Stuntz 15, Gary Johnson 24 in the Manly win, with Stuntz 7, Debner 2, Shultz 4, Hildebrand 4, Brunsma 4.
Robert M. Kretzschmar of Iowa City will be 1967 crusade chairman for the American Cancer Society Iowa Division. Dwain Ehrlich of Fairfield will serve as vice chairman. The 1966 drive raised a record 737000 in Town.
