Friends and relatives gather for extensive Enabnit family notices

Lorene Wedeking Graduates From Cedar Rapids Nursing School

Lorene Ann Wedeking daughter of Mr and Mrs Arlie Wedeking received her diploma from St Luke's School of Professional Nursing Cedar Rapids at graduation exercises Friday August 20 she was one of 55 graduates The commencement address was by Dr Fred Miller Instrict Superintendent of the Waterloo District of the Methodist Church Miss Lucille Kinley presented the class and Louis B Blair conferred the diplomas Mrs Marian Roberts presented the graduate pins Lorene will begin work at University Hospital Minneapolis mid September.

New residents Mr and Mrs Leo Staudt Jr welcomed a baby boy Daniel Leo born August 11 weighing 7 pounds 7 ounces. Baptism took place at St Marys Catholic Church on August 19 with sponsors Mr Robert Byrne of Charles City and Mr Leo Staudt Sr Marble Rock present.

Union Busy Bees Farewell Dinner Honors Mary Jo Dolan

Twelve 4-H club members and mothers met at Club Iowa in Charles City for a buffet dinner on Sunday August 15. The event honored Mary Jo Dolan as she leaves to attend Iowa State University Ames and she received a farewell gift. Special guest Mrs Mark Staudt also received a gift for ten years of service to the club.

Library Board To Meet Monday In Marble Rock

Marble Rock Library board convenes Monday evening August 20 at eight in the library room to plan remodeling and equipping the Goodrich building for the move in. The Main Street property was purchased with funds from Mason City Kinney-Sandstrom Foundation grant.

Rites Today for John Mills 85

John S. Mills age 85 of Marble Rock died Sunday at home. Born February 1 1880 he worked at a cream station for years. Survived by nieces and nephews. Funeral services held this afternoon at Westside Cemetery Reid's Funeral Chapel Marble Rock with Rev Byron Ayers of Rockford officiating. Burial at Weside Cemetery. Reid's Funeral Chapel in charge.

Mrs Anna Hart hosted a bridal shower in her Charles City home for Mona Riden who will wed Ronald Staudt on September 4. The event included games and gift opening with 22 guests attending and a luncheon to close.

Betterwar Club Met on Tuesday in Charles City area

The Scott Betterwar Club met Tuesday afternoon at Mrs. Bill Fluhrer's rural home west of Charles City. Guests included Mrs Don Fluhrer and Mrs Charles Thorson. Following a two o clock dessert luncheon, high at the card tables was won by Mrs Charles Thorson, low by Mrs Don Fluhrer, and traveling by Mrs Leon Marsh.

Union Busy Bees 4-H Club Meets At Katchers Home

The August gathering of the Union Busy Bees 4-H Club met at Nancy and Barbara Katcher's home with nine members present. Members discussed a girls and mothers dinner on August 15 at 12:30 and a September 11 picnic at 5 p.m. Talks covered uncluttered rooms, drawer dividers, and lighting. Pat Dolan and others prepared the county poster for the club booth at the North Iowa Fair. Lunch was served by the hostesses and their mothers.

Mrs Leonard Klink hosted the C U Club from Rockford at her home on Tuesday afternoon. Eight members attended and spent the lively visit with lunch served by the hostess.

Baptist Mission Circle Meets at Bethel Church

Bethel Baptist Church hosted the Bethel Mission Circle gathering Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Gerald Adams as hostess and program leader. She opened with devotions and led the missionary lesson titled Toward a Greater Tomorrow The Christian's responsibility for public education. A luncheon followed the program.

Twelve members from the local Lutheran Church Women's Society were guests at the Rockford Women of the Lutheran Church monthly meeting Tuesday evening. Rev Stephen Engelstad presented the lesson. Lunch followed. No women's meeting will be held this month at Marble Rock Lutheran Church.
