Flora Hamilton Rites and Clarksville School Board Hire
Funeral services for Flora Myrtle Hamilton 95 were held in Clarksville with burial at Lynwood Cemetery. She was born March 4 1879 north of Clarksville to Thomas and Ellen Gabby and married Benjamin Franklin Hamilton in 1899. She held church memberships and Eastern Star. Surviving are two sons Lyle Cedar Rapids and Reid Omaha Neb a daughter Grace Roseleaf Hastings Neb and sister Mrs Lela Neil Clarksville. The obituary notes a long Clarksville life and recent residence at Allison Manor. Clarksville School Board hired Kenneth Vance as new principal for the Junior and Senior High, replacing Robert Templeton who moved to Cogegan Ia. Vance is Clarksville native and former principal at New Hartford and Preston. CARD swimming pool set attendance records with 161 participants. 70 baby beginners 2 weeks old. Pool closes Labor Day. Clarksville Schools open Aug 26 1974 with registration Aug 19 and high school dance for students and alumni. Lundt Brockman reunion Aug 11 had 29 attendees at Heery Woods State Park. Clarksville 1929 class picnic Aug 11 with 24 graduates. next year’s picnic planned. Mildred Lore spent summer with YES Corps in Mexico and will work at Twin Wells Indian School. Women’s Fellowship met Aug 6 with program Choose Life God’s Great Love. Kianna Marie Stopplemoor born Aug 6 granddaughter of Clarksville families.

Iowa Educational Broadcasting Network will air FAIR 74 coverage of the Iowa State Fair Parade and highlights starting August 15 at 6 30 p m with events scheduled through August 23. The lineup features tractor pull square dancing demolition derby super stock car racing and shows by Anna Maria Alberghetti Charlie Rich and others.
