Semi Truck and Tractor Crash East of Marble Rock

A semi driven by Harold H Landt 27 of Monona collided with the Shafer farm tractor near Marble Rock after a passing attempt. Landt sustained broken ribs and was hospitalized. he received an improper passing summons. Also included is a report on the Woman's Society of Christian Service celebrating 25 years at a Charles City church with members and guests noted.

Jim McNeilus Named New Civil Defense Director

Jim McNeilus is named Floyd County Civil Defense Director to replace Charles Martin of Charles City. Auditor Ed Folkerts notes no salary, travel and expenses only. appointment effective August. McNeilus has attended Civil Defense courses, helped run a local Radio Logistical Monitor Corps unit, and maintained a family fallout shelter since 1957. He will office on the fourth floor of the courthouse in Charles City each Saturday morning after September 1 and be available for speaking engagements thereafter.

Final Story Hour ends summer at Marble Rock library

The eighth and final story hour was held Thursday at Marble Rock Town Hall with 15 attendees, below the summer average of 20. Readers included multiple volunteers such as Nancy Hillman who read twice. Library hours shift with school starting, with September Monday hours 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and 4:30 to 6:30 pm.

Arnold Haller appointed to fill the unexpired term on the Rudd Rockford Marble Rock Community School Board after Walter Marsh resigned to become Floyd County Supervisor. The term runs until the September school board election.

Moved tex and Mrs Sheral Gregory and family moved Saturday into the house they built this summer on North Main Street. Mr and Mrs Darwin Shreve of Greene plan to move this week into the south town house vacated by the Gregory family.
