Sixth Avenue right of way granted to Union Pacific
City council granted first reading to the Sixth Avenue franchise for Union Pacific, requiring grade and gravel work and ongoing repair of the avenue from Fourth to Twelfth streets. The ordinance limits switching, places the track on the west side, and obligates the company to maintain the street. Aldermen debated city revenue and the broader benefit to growth, with completion deadlines set for sixty days.
