Spring Pasture Feeding Changes Flavor of Milk
In early spring weed infested pastures can give milk a weed flavor, especially when cows graze on herbage they normally would refuse. Flavors do not affect safety but may reduce demand. Dairymen should avoid overreliance on such pastures, remove cows before milking if needed, and maintain a planned feeding routine to minimize off flavors.

Farm Notes On crops livestock and rural life
Total American crop production this year was the second largest on record only surpassed by 1937. Over 1,000,000 frozen food lockers in more than 3,200 plants now serve U S families. Good pasture supplies vitamin A for livestock aiding growth health and vigor. An Ohio 1924 survey found 47 percent of farm homes over 50 years old and wells 74 feet from the kitchen. Forest land is so cut over it is nearly idle, an area as large as Italy. A hog worm remedy: whole oats soaked in buttermilk for 10 to 12 hours after 24 to 36 hours off feed.
