An inch and three quarters of rain fell during a Sunday night into Monday morning. water covered the grade between here and the highway and the bottom lands along streams west of town. Miss Lucia Oldfield, Morris Spence and Mr Cummings took Mr Spence's mother to Promise ity for a two week vacation.
Mrs Nellie Sparks hosted a Sunday birthday gathering for relatives at her home, with family members arriving to share tea and light refreshments. The event highlighted close kinship and festive familiar cheer.

Mr and Mrs Gerald Smith with daughter Madeline and Miss Marie Flynn of Shenandoah spent Sunday in Des Moines at the home of Mr Smith's brother Harold Smith. The occasion was the birthday anniversary of Mr Smith and his twin brother. Their mother Mrs Swank and her husband of Cantril were guests.
Mrs Ilo Wilson is visiting Nebraska this week for engagements with local groups and events. She will attend a series of meetings and community activities, meeting residents and participating in scheduled programs across several cities.

The Free Methodist Church invites the Gravity community to join worship and Bible study. Pastors W W Whyte and Mrs Gertrude Whyte lead Sunday School at 11:00 a.m. and Evening Worship at 7:30 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Young Peoples Meeting and Wednesday Bible Reading and Prayer at 7:30 p.m. All welcome.
Harry Lambley expresses gratitude to all who sent flowers cards and letters during his hospital stay and after returning home. He cannot fully express how much the kindness helped and pledges to tell each giver personally that their sympathy will not be forgotten.

Lewia Walker writes to his parents Mr and Mrs Ray Walker that he is stationed at Camp Roberts near Los Angeles California. He also notes Colvin Grubb is stationed at Camp Roberts. The message confirms military postings for two local men and situates the base in Southern California.
Mrs L. T. Reed spent last week in Des Moines and Mrs Laura Kent attended the Assembly of the Rebecca Lodge at Fort Dodge before returning home Sunday.
