The Gravity Town post office filed the story as second class matter. Severe rains hampered road work last week but significant progress was made on grading toward the cemetery. Work will begin on the New Market road section once the cemetery route is finished, and crews expect an all winter project despite favorable weather.
The school purchased a glass showcase to display athletic and other contest trophies. It will be placed in the hall for easy viewing and better care, replacing the former storage in Supt. Lucas's office to protect and groom the trophies as their number has increased.

The Gravity Iown Independent School District in Washington Township Taylor County filed its quarterly financial statement for the period ending September 30 1941 detailing receipts expenditures and balances. The report lists district funds accounts and financial activity overseen by the school board and treasurer.
O C Posten secretary presents a true and correct statement of financial proceedings for the district quarter ending September 30 1941. The document lists numerous vendor payments including Gravity Oil Co American Book Co and Underwood Elliott Co with amounts such as 22 93 14 74 and 103 20 totaling expenses and noting notary Elmer Brown certified the report on October 7 1941.
An all day Home Extension work session will be held October 15 at the home of Ms George Depew. Attendees should notify Mrs Horace Exemer or Mrs Gerage Smith. The topic will be Food for Health and National Defense.

Mrs Meredith Walker of Atlantic spent last week at the home of her parents Mr and Mrs Emer Brown while Mr Walker attended a Coca Cola employees convention in Denver. Mrs Walker returned home Sunday afternoon.

Cleo Savage and family with Ida Savage and Lloyd Bradley and families spent Sunday at the Boyce Monahan home. Laverne Levi, who had stayed here for a month, returned to Cedar Rapids Tuesday evening.
Mrs Albert Parke received a letter from Mr Kenneth Parks reporting his band being badly hurt at the Keokuk factory where he works. Infection set in and he was hospitalized for treatment but he is getting along fine.
